Just heard the commentator mention it, didnt know. Respectful desicion from a young lad.

when is the english team announced ?

They always make a massive deal out of announcing the team , wait right until the last minute and such rubbish . Other countries just get on with it .

Guess this year they'll have that Geoff Shreeves lad hovering above the country in a Harrier , waiting for Roy's go to zoom off and break the bad news to a bunch of useless players.

"Roy , Carlton Palmer has been informed he's not in the team "
"Woger Geoff"

Olympics a few weeks later so I'm making sure that I don't pay the t.v licence.

HOW FUCKING TIGHT ARE THOSE TOPS

They look like they're going to the Tour de Fucking france in those things.

I'm all aboard the German bandwagon again. Hopefully they avoid Spain for as long as possible.

The timezone is going fuck me up but I'll try watch as many games as possible. Hopefully we'll try finalise some deals before price tag inflate due to a good tournament.

Can't look past Spain or Germany. I'll be shocked if anyone else wins it.

Ireland in finals.

Reminds me of holidays in Donegal, watching the games in wee pubs.

Turf fire, coke in a glass bottle, tayto cheese and onion. Think i'll try recreating the scene in my living room.

I might do the same. Only without the turf fire.

A lot of the Barca players have had a gruelling season. I think the Spanish team will be tired and not at their best.

I still hope they win it though.

Im going with France. They have a good crop coming through, some decent experienced players to help them out and seem like a team again.

Ireland squad: Given, Westwood, Forde, Dunne, O’Shea, St.Ledger, O’Dea, Ward, Kelly, Foley, Whelan, Gibson, Andrews, Fahey, Duff, McGeady, Hunt, McClean, Keane, Doyle, Cox, Long, Walters.

Standby: Randolph, McShane, Green, Coleman, Keogh

I think it should be this but I suppose you can't argue with a man whose won as much in the game as he has:

Shay Given
Paddy Kenny
Kieran Westwood

Seamus Coleman

Richard Dunne
John O' Shea
Ciaran Clark
Darren O'Dea

Marc Wilson
Ian Harte

Aidan McGeady
Anthony Pilkington

Keith Andrews
James McCarthy (replace with Keith Fahey)
Wes Hoolahan
Sean Murray
Stephen Quinn

James McClean
Stephen Hunt

Robbie Keane
Shane Long
...then any two from: Simon Cox / Kevin Doyle / Anthony Stokes / Adam Rooney / Andy Keogh / Jon Daly / Joe Mason / Paul Heffernan

Standby:
Colin Doyle
Shane Duffy / John Egan
Chris McCann
Stephen Gleeson

In an ideal world Jonny Evans, Aaron Hughes, Steven Davis and Chris Brunt would also be getting on the plane to Poland.

I agree on all counts with irishred; firstly that the squad he has picked looks considerably stronger than the one Trapp has picked BUT that it's difficult to argue with Trapp's selection given that he steered a very average squad through a tough qualifying group.

He probably doesn't know who half of the players are. Sure last year the management team didn't even realise Ian Harte was Irish.

Trap has a game plan, that's working very well, and is picking players to suit that game plan. I'm not going to argue with his selections at all.

I remember when he first started there was a load of people thinking he should have been picking Andy Reid, turns out Trap was right on that one, so it looks like he knows more about it than most.

Given what we have at our disposal I reckon most managers would have failed to qualify us at all for this tournament.

I haven't seen enough of Ward at left back to say definitively but I thought he was decent enough.
Surprised that Irishred and Pesam didn't want him in the squad
