England v Uruguay

Gerrard shows us the value of experience yet again - costing his team the game.

England show the value of having more possession than the opposition by getting beaten.

And Suarez scores a brace against shite opposition.

All totally predictable

Did anyone else just know Ross was going to come on to post this?

You're becoming predictable man.

Personally think there is no excuse not to go and beat Uruguay, none, they are not the team of a few years ago and were exposed for the mediocre team they are the other day, England have even had the big stroke of luck with Suarez being injured, even if he plays hes not going to be match fit, it wouldn't surprise to see a Diego Costa like scenario in the CL final with him.

Uruguay have been average at best ever since they won the Copa America in 2011, the Olympics were a shambles for them and they struggled in qualifying for the WC, England with their quick attacking players should be way too much for that dodgy Uruguayan back line, England just have to defend decently and the rest should take care of itself.
^^^^^^

Major LOLS!

Not much wrong with what he said.

URG aren't great at all. Suarez was the difference. Jagielka defended like a pubs league player.

What this Suarez: " England have even had the big stroke of luck with Suarez being injured, even if he plays hes not going to be match fit, it wouldn't surprise to see a Diego Costa like scenario in the CL final with him ?

What a man!

I let my self down big time last night and i'm left feeling a little ashamed about it this morning.

I watched the game in a packed pub and I suspect a few people were clocking onto the fact that I wasn't exactly supporting England, So when chants went up of "Suarez you're a cunt, Suarez Suarez you're a cunt", I will admit that out of a need of self preservation I did join in.

I wanted England to win but was damn close to cheering when Luis scored

Admittedly I didn't have the best view and I was distracted by my food, but I'm pretty sure he played a part in both Suarez goals.

Order of Culpability for Goal #2 : 1. Jagielka 2. Cahill 3. Hart 4. Gerrard

For Goal #1 I'd have to re-watch the replays but the fact that no-one is even mentioning him bar you (and that includes United fans), and I certainly didn't think that at the time, means you're probably OoO on that one too.

Now is not the time to look to blame anyone, we should all just try to enjoy the beautiful game that is football.

Who'd of thought that a country with a tiny population like Uruguay could destroy a powerhouse like England?

Ah sorry, was that what you LOL'ing at?

Yeah a half fit Suarez is still a monster.

Did anyone else see the interview with Suarez after the game? Apparently he said that he finds it easier to score against England than he does against Norwich.

Just a quick post about the goals that were conceded. Blaming anyone other than Phil Jagielka for the goals is ridiculous.

Suarez made him look like a pubs league player by simply drifting off his shoulder. He didn't beat him with a moment of skill or anything fancy. Just drifted away from him. Now Jagielka could have benefitted from Baines tucking in for him to help him out when Suarez made his simple run for the first. Saying that, I don't think Baines was in even in position to help out.

The second goal was just amateur all round. Play the percentages. Be prepared for Gerrard or Cavanni getting something on the ball. He didn't even know where Suarez was. He gambled in no man's land hoping it would be okay, in a World Cup, with Suarez on the prowl, fucking hell.
He has played against Suarez 6 times now and Suarez has six goals against him. (Open to correction).
Suarez even said in a interview a few days ago that he knows their center half and he knows how to exploit him. He didn't have to do much to exploit him just made two simple runs.
