England Squad Leaked

You can sum up Wilshere's style of football in one sentence. Gets the ball deep in midfield, drives forward with the ball and beats maybe one or two players, attempts to beat another player but gets tackled firmly, falls to the floor sulking under the tackle, the opposition moves the ball forward, he's still on the floor sulking, they pass the ball into the area into the area Wilshere has vacated, still on the floor sulking, the opposition concludes their move, Wilshere has finally got up and is slowly jogging back. As tragic as this sentence is, so many people only remember the first two parts of the sentence and that's why I think people think he's much better than he is, he has a couple of nice moves in his arsenal (pun intended), and can look decent in a highlight real, but his all round game is absolutely dire, and then you add into that what Brendan has already described, he doesn't score, he doesn't create, and worse of all, he's a grade a shithouse. No thank you.

You do know we are not signing him right?

i think the fear is that Wilshere actually is going to be first choice, as the most defensive midfielder on the pitch. A role Jack has been preparing for by watching videos of Xabi Alonso, as opposed to actually playing there.
Dier is a stick on for the DM role.

Only one right back? I don't particularly like Walker but he's very unlucky.

How many games have Shaw and Wilshere actually played between them this season?

Personally I'd like to see Defoe go but there's nobody he's going to dislodge from the 4 picked ahead of him

Wilshere is unfulfilled potential and I can't see him ever developing to be the player that he was touted to be. Injured too often and doesn't seem to have the discipline of a top player. Look at Ramsay and look at him.

It's a tough one picking the squad because a fair few supposed first choice players have had disastrous seasons and then you're left with one season wonder types who have no real pedigree.

The main thing is that there is zero pace in that midfield apart from Sterling. Seemed like we had about 3-4 options at one point and now, it's Sterling or bust.

Anyways, Roy will still build the team around Rooney so it's not like any of it matters.

Isn't Barkley quick?

Wilshere and Shaw shouldnt be in there.
Dier is one of those Spurs players that look better than he is in their system.
Wont end well with him starting. That said, it wont end well regardless.

Sturridge and Kane upfront could be interesting.
Clyne should be first choice at right back.
Centre backs is a tough one. Stones is overrated, Smalling is a moron and the rest are meh.

Theres an exciting line up in there.
But its Roy. So as Ken says it will be Rooney up top and it will be a shambles.

Id play
Hart
Rose
Cahill
Smalling
Clyne

Dier
Milner
Alli

Vardy
Kane
Sturridge

And have a bit of fun before we get knocked out on pens.

It's blag. The dude who made it has admitted it. Stand down. Nothing to see here.

Apart from Fabio isn't Irish.

There's plenty of goals and a reasonably stubborn defence there. England could do well.

Its probbaly the best England squad in years and the one best equipped to upset a few teams along the way.

Wilshere is the new Joe Cole btw. He may well be talented, he's still of little or no value.

He's got a knee injury - which is a shame coz it would have been fun seeing Woy explain to an outraged media why he dropped Wooney

It's the other way around. There's been plenty of chatter about Rooney's place in the team, but a general assumption that Hodgson is going to play him no matter what.

Rooney vs Vardy/ Kane/ Sturridge is exactly the sort of hyped discussion that will dominate, with plenty of people saying he shouldn't be in the best XI, or as a striker, which is a repeat of the frenzy around Shearer before Euro 96.

"It would take a lot before I say to Wayne Rooney, after his captaincy over two years, after 19 games and two defeats, that because I am being pushed to make a brave, bold decision and show what a fantastic, forward-thinking and adventurous coach I am, 'I am leaving you out the team'

"I have to repeat Wayne is our captain and he has captained the team extremely well in the past two years. He took us through a qualifying campaign where we had a complete success with 10 wins out out 10. It doesn't please me too much that it is suggested now that the moment he is injured and doesn't play he gets jettisoned in some way. He doesn't deserve that."

That doesn't sound like a man on the brink of dropping his Captain

Cos some of us love football, and aren't nobs who think that Liverpool isn't part of England.

I can see both viewpoints, in that I enjoy Liverpool winning more than England, but will support England in a tournament.

I just often struggle when I realise I'm cheering on players that I really, really hate, which was at its nadir when the likes of Terry, Neville, Ferdinand, Beckham were all in the side. You can't support a team with all your heart with that lot in it.

Plus plenty of Scousers have quite a bit of Irish or whatever in them anyway, so apart from anything else there is that to consider.

Yep I totally get this perspective. But I think that the Scouse/English thing is bollocks.

Yes, the FA has always seen us right. As have those hallowed playing heroes such as John Terry and Bryan Robson. Bless them one and all. And those lovely chaps in the band and the chaps with those delightful St Gerrge cross flags with Banbury written on.
Oh for the days when our beloved Ing Ur Lund lift a trophy under Uncle Woy.
What joy! 😉

I suppose it depends on who you ask. There's certainly been a more obvious antipathy towards England from Liverpool fans than most other teams, and you don't see that many "We're Not English, We're Scouse" banners at other grounds. It's part politics, part geography and part genuinely unique.

(yes, I know the "scouse" bit gives that away, but swap that for "brummies" or "Londoners")

Also, what on earth makes you think I should love football? I've not loved football since about 1992. I'm just attached to it like one would be to a ship sinking to the bottom of the ocean with all hands.

My disenfranchisement from the union has been a gradual thing, but one I don't mind discussing and analysing. Personally, I don't feel like Liverpool threw it's fingers up to the rest of the UK as much as the rest of the UK turned it's back on Liverpool.

Regardless, fuck England, I'm Scouse. If that's one of the things that makes me nob, never mind, it's got plenty of company.

I'm going to miss this sort of thing in the pub
