Robert Green proved last night again that he is an absolute blob!! Surely England cant harbour ambitions of winning a world cup wit this guy between the sticks but who else is there they seem to have 4 or 5 keepers around the same level at the moment and that level is shit.Luckily goalkeeping is about the only problem us irish dont have!!

Im almost positive come the big dance David James will be our keeper.

I hope you`re wrong for englands sake..surely he cant be trusted

Carson and Green are not even close to international standard and Foster isn't too much better. Joe Hart is still the best of the younger keepers.

The 3 for the World Cup should be........... 1. James 2. Robinson 3. Hart

It's amazing, but James does look the most likely. And if he does go as number one they'll get so close only for 'Jamo' to doze off at a crucial moment and blow the whole thing.

It's amazing how the 'promising' ones have declined. Kirkland, with his weird penchant for short sleeves and sun caps, doesn't even look like a footballer, he looks more like a retired glove salesman in Florida. And did you see one of Wenger's former 'shrewd' buys, Richard Wright, on Saturday - lamentably bad.

[/quote]Calvin Davis too. Its really quite depressing. The sad fact is James IS our best keeper at present..........maybe that Almunia thing isnt looking too fucking daft after all.

Scott Carson is surely the biggest disapointment ,That Croatia game ruined his career

Many said he was too good to be a reserve keeper, Villa seemed keen to take a 6-8million punt on the man who would be England's number 1. One Horror game against Croatia and bye bye International duty and hello West Brom.

Wasnt there a gentlemans agreement between pool and villa that Carson was gonna go to Villa for 10 million at one stage then the Croatia game happened

Jamo is a strange one.

On his day he looks the best keeper in the world.

Sadly, for England, the day is rarely match day.

James is a clown. I estimate that he has been directly at fault for approximately 200 goals in his career. England will win nothing with him in goal. He has made horrendous errors in two FA Cup finals. God only knows how he'd react in a World Cup semifinal. His performances for us towards the end of the 96/97 season were nothing short of pathetic.

I remember reading that Carson's loan cost £2million, with Villa having to pay a further £8million to make the deal permanent.

[Puts on Denis Norden mask] I wonder how much of it has to do with the decline in the ability to do the old Pascalian thing of being still and silent and able to concentrate. You see players these days and they rarely seem able to exist for more than a few minutes without a phone conversation, an i-pod or a blackberry. Outfield, even players with ADD ought to have enough stimuli to keep focussing on the game, but maybe more keepers than ever before struggle to stand there and concentrate when they're not often in action. We all know that James was an infamous trailblazer of such a phenomenon for us, with his 'I exhausted myself mentally playing computer games'. Perhaps this is a problem that is destined to get even worse.

We have to go with James I think.

The second worry, other than his high profile gaffs, is his team looks likely to be relegated this year - hardly the ideal preparation for a World Cup.

All the top keepers must br from Brazil going by VB logic. we have 4 world class defenders, that'll do.
