isn't it about time we fucked heskey off? rooney has proven he can lead the line on his own and gerrard is one of the best forwards in world football so why the fuck do we still need heskey?
That's one of the silliest things you've ever said.
gerrard is absolutely one of the best players playing as the second striker/in the hole position in world football. name 5 players who are better. kaka is a gimme.
Rooney
Tevez
Rossi
Arshavin
Mutu (would have been Kaka, but since you claim he's a gimme.... And forget the drugs, his stats are phenomenal over the last few years.)

There's 3 departments Gerrard is lacking in to be considered one of the best in that position; finishing, ball skills and playing with his back to goal. He is and always will be a great midfielder masquerading as a good (that's all I'd say) 2nd striker. The fact that he's never as good without Torres says a lot.

Anyway this has turned into a match thread so I'll leave it at that for my opinion.
all those you've listed are debateable (well, maybe not rooney) whether or not they are better than gerrard in that position.

anyone else think Milner is very Gerrard, he has that awkward leggy style and a good shot. we shoulda bought him

Most people scoffed when O'Neill shelled out for him, much like they did when he bought Ashley Young. Both are looking like excellent signings though

I was on the bandwagon; most weren't though. Has a phenomenal shot.

young on the left gerrard on the right, we'd be pretty good with that... shame

Spain won 2-0 - at a canter really. France were whistled off by their own fans. I think Spain's overall possession stats were like 67% or something. They're so hard to beat once they're in front because you just can't get the ball off them. And as soon as you do, they press you really fast and hard to win it back. Definitely favourites for the World Cup IMO.

Torres played the whole 2nd half and looked pretty sharp. No injury worries.

Crouchie can score as many as he likes in Friendlies, warm-up games and the likes, he'll still play second fiddle to big Emile when the WC comes around.

And you agree with this too, do you?

That's good. Who played well for Spain Bunny?

He was miles offside.
I thought so too, but I think when they showed all their clever computerised lines he was level.

Crouchie is great, we should buy him.

We'd be much better off this season if we had him. It'd get ugly at times (not that that's Crouch's fault), but it'd be ugliness that works a bit, as opposed to what we saw this season.

Spurs depth at striker really fucking aggravates me to think about.

Because they're a better team with him in it, because his presence makes Rooney play better, because he's the best 'outlet ball' they've got, and because they coasted through qualifying with him in the side.

He mightn't score the goals of a Crouch, but England are a better team (for a variety of reasons) when he's in it and that's the most important factor for them and Capello.

Why precisely?
Another thing, i thought Barry was head and shoulders above every other player on the pitch.

So wish we had of signed him the summer before last.

I didn't see it. Did Terry get booed?
Light boos here and there but there wasn't as much hostility towards him than i thought there'd be.

No, and it's also why we need Portugal, Spain, Brazil, and the Netherlands in the competition. That's hardly going to capture the cameras during a lengthy injury stoppage, is it?

I think the 'ugly football' tag is one of the worst things thrown his way tbh. If he wasn't a big gangly fucker, the technique for half the goals he scored would be creamed over. It's not his fault brainless footballing oafs see him on the horizon and hoof the ball his way.

Completely agree, the way we would sometimes settle into playing with him on the side was to his strengths.

Just watched extended highlights.

Nauseating moment No. 35760251: Beckham up and clapping at every opportunity from the fucking bench. Like it's his own kids playing.

Sit down you bellend.

Oh, and James Milner is fucking boss.
That he is. I never wanted him to sign for us last season, was gutted we were interested. Couldn't have been more wrong. He's been great this season.
