Spain won 2-0 - at a canter really. France were whistled off by their own fans. I think Spain's overall possession stats were like 67% or something. They're so hard to beat once they're in front because you just can't get the ball off them. And as soon as you do, they press you really fast and hard to win it back. Definitely favourites for the World Cup IMO.

Torres played the whole 2nd half and looked pretty sharp. No injury worries.
That's good. Who played well for Spain Bunny?
Er, most of them really. Busquets was very good in CM. Sergio Ramos, Puyol, Piqué, Silva, Villa, Torres were all excellent.

Jesus Navas looked electric when he came on, but is too individualistic to thrive in that team.

Iniesta was relatively poor by his standards, but he's just coming back from injury isn't he?

a spain v brazil match would mouth watering. but not in the final though as england will be in the final 😉

Just watched extended highlights.

Nauseating moment No. 35760251: Beckham up and clapping at every opportunity from the fucking bench. Like it's his own kids playing.

Sit down you bellend.
Yeah I hate that team spirit and shit.

I totally forgot this was on.
Average first half, excellent second half Brendan. We really played some terrific stuff after the break, Barry and Carrick were superb together after Lampard was finally put out of my misery.
Really good cameos from Milner and Crouchinho. Terrific pass and move stuff and the first goal was a joy.
Terrible defending for the goal, and very little from Baines or Brown.
Pleased overall though.

I didnt forget about it (although admittedly I wasnt THAT interested) - but was unable to watch the game as am away on business in Jockland.

Instead of England vs Egypt they had "Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous", although by all accounts there was significantly more attacking threat posed by Sandra Bullock than Fatty Frank Lampard....
Ha. He missed such a lame sitter, 4 yards out goal gaping.
I know what you mean about not being too interested, I'm usually the same, but I think a)Capello b)6 sub rule have made friendlies count a bit, and in particular with the proximity to the world cup it was always going to be semi serious.
The fact Beckham didn't play shows what Capello was trying to do, and if all he got out of it was Milner, Carrick being potential starters then that's fine with me.

He missed another aswell Oncy, admittedly a slightly more difficult chance, but still a few yards out when he hit it into the ground and it bounced over the bar.

That cunt of a Manc on ITV REALLY fucking galled me in the second half. "just for a second there Gerrard looked more like the Gerrard of Liverpool". WTF??? Him and Rooney were the only ones who looked interested in the first half. Cunt.

Im sure youre right - I'll probably get into it eventually, but even knowing that makes me feel like a fair-weather fan (which is uncomfortable).

Ive got to the stage where I'd be more than happy to see Gerrard and Torres retire from international football to prolong their careers with us! On one level its nice that they get the chance for international recognition of their skills and abilities, but on another there really is no upside for us....
- shit tournament = come back knackered and in low spirits
- good tournament = come back knackered and with every fucker and his dog in the press fuelling transfer speculation

You could just stop being so pessmistic and look fwd to the world cup and enjoy it as a tournament 😉
Can't wait myself and do love the tournament nature of the games with football being on everyday pretty much.

I wasn't totally averse to the idea of Stevie G lifting the World Cup above his head come summer, but I may have to reconsider my position.

Carrick definitely changed the game. He is always looking to move the ball forward and sees things very quickly. Real zip on his passes too. It made me rather jealous watching him actually.

He's been superb over the last 2/3 months for the Mancs. It helps having Fletcher beside him to work like a cunt, but still - he's really lifted his game.

Coincidentally, it's as a result of Ferguson freezing him out for the first 3/4 months of the season for getting ideas above his station. He's pulled his head out of his arse massively.
