Record since this unbeaten run began..

Not conceded a goal away from home in the league since Old Toilet..

Brodge has turned it around..

Let's smash theses Basterds on Sunday.. We owe them one..

A ridiculously good run, only soured by the fact that Arsenal have just about matched it. All set up for the biggest Liverpool United Derby in at least five years, that game is going to be loud.

Fair play & respect to RedNinja.

If we don't win on Sunday it'll be his fault and I'll be expecting to see a video posted of him disembowelling himself with a rusty penknife - which would be the minimum expected due to this jinxy bastard of a thread.

The last time the Reds went six away games without conceding a goal came in 1972, with Emlyn Hughes (left) marshalling things at the back.

We finished above City, Arsenal, United and Chelsea that season.

Anyone know if we ever went more than 6 games?

Jan 22 1972, Wolves 0-0 Liverpool: The Reds arrested a run of successive away league defeats with a hard-earned point. With Ray Clemence sturdy between the sticks, Alec Lindsay lined up at left-back with Chris Lawler on the opposite flank, with Tommy Smith and Emlyn Hughes forming a solid central defensive pairing.

Feb 12 1972, Huddersfield 0-1 Liverpool: Liverpool’s most recent league visit to Huddersfield resulted in a 1-0 win thanks to a goal fromthe injury-ravaged Jack Whitham. In defence, Clemence, Lawler and Lindsay were joined by Smith who was this time partnered by Larry Lloyd as Hughes pushed into midfield.

Mar 11 1972, Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool: “We were grateful to get away with a point,” admitted Shankly afterwards. But a point Liverpool did get as the back line of Clemence, Lawler, Lindsay, Smith and Lloyd kept the Londoners at bay.

Mar 25 1972, Southampton 0-1 Liverpool: John Toshack’s winner maintained the Reds’ unlikely title challenge with another unconvincing display. Once again, skipper Smith was ably assisted by Lloyd, Lawler and Lindsay as Clemence kept another clean sheet.

Apr 3 1972, Man United 0-3 Liverpool: A tremendous win for the Reds, with Lawler taking a break from defensive duties to score the opener with Toshack and Hughes also netting. The back line of Clemence, Lawler, Lindsay, Lawler and Smith were in top form, with an 18-year-old Phil Thompson coming off the bench to make his debut.

Apr 15 1972, West Ham 0-2 Liverpool: After Toshack netted early on, Steve Heighway robbed Bobby Moore before going on to score the clinching goal. As ever, the back line of Lawler, Lindsay Smith and Lloyd were impressive ahead of a man-of-the-match Clemence.

what happened next?

We lost 1 - 0 away to Derby in the penultimate game of the season. Then went to Highbury and drew 0 - 0 against the Goons to end the season. We finished in 3rd place; Derby won the title by a point over us, while three teams (Leeds, Liverpool, City) were tied on 57 but Leeds got 2nd on goal difference.

Any optimism in this thread should be swiftly dispelled with the news that Martin Atkinson is the referee.

He fucking hates us, his displays in the 2 Chelsea home games this season were shocking, biased cunt.

What a shock we get him again for the crucial game, he will slaughter us

At least it's not Webb

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or Steve Bennett. Anyone remember that bastard destroying games between us and Man Utd?

no Arsenal are the most stupid entity as a club I have ever seen, every one put us so down fo rour form, defense and what not. So inspite of Arsenal being so near to us in the form table, they are just three points away. That just speaks Arsenal as always are shit !!

Knew shit like this would come to haunt us.

Obviously I've been delighted we've had a good run, but has anyone really been that impressed by many of our performances? We struggled against Bolton and Blackburn in the cup. We had to grind out a few results in the league. We've rarely looked anywhere near what we did at this stage last season. Clearly lacking Suarez we were always going to look less gloriously versatile in terms of attack, but the pressing game has hardly been glimpsed at the intensity of last season, and only Coutinho has been a consistently creative presence. It's a huge shame we lost Ibe to injury because he has the fearlessness and the appetite that's been missing.

We need to forget about today and start grinding results again against Arsenal. We have had some good and some not so good performances, but if we manage to average that Points per game number throughout the remainer of the season we will be top four. SO just roll up the sleeves and win the NeXT game. That will be all that matters over the last 10 games.

Yes, but we need to change more than rolling our sleeves up. That was a performance that NEEDS to be remembered, and discussed, and analysed, with lessons learnt.
