This is probably bs, its from the daily star. I like doss going forward, good cross on him but defensively shown up far too often last season.

ANDREA DOSSENA is ready to turn down a move to Juventus – because he thinks that Liverpool can finally win the Premier League next season.

Italian left-back Dossena, 27, has been strongly linked with a move to Juve after struggling to earn a regular place in the Liverpool team following a £7m move from Udinese.

But he wants to stay at Anfield because he believes Cristiano Ronaldo’s £80m move to Real Madrid has opened up next season’s title race.

Dossena started just 12 league games last term as Rafa Benitez preferred Brazilian defender Fabio Aurelio for most of the season.

But Dossena, currently playing for Italy in the Confederations Cup, reckons he would be mad to leave just when Liverpool are on the verge of a title breakthrough for the first time in 20 years.

He said: “I learned what the boss wants from me and I hope next season is better than last season.

“I never said I wanted to go away from Liverpool. I’m happy in Liverpool and I want to stay. Journalists say ‘you come back to Italy’. I want to stay in Liverpool.â€

Dossena believes that Liverpool have an outstanding chance of being crowned champions in 2010 now that United have lost star man Ronaldo to Real Madrid.

The defender, who scored in Liverpool’s famous 4-1 victory over champions United at Old Trafford in March, said: “Ronaldo going is the difference, I hope.

“We have to continue the same as last season because we weren’t 20 points behind Manchester United – only four.

“There’s not a lot of difference between us and them. And now Manchester United have lost Cristiano Ronaldo maybe that’s better for us.â€

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Aston Villa last night got the green light to bid for Standard Liege captain Steven Defour.

Martin O’Neill and Rafa Benitez are both keen on the Belgium international midfielder who inspired Standard to their second consecutive title.

And £15m-rated Defour is eager to move to the Premier League – even though his club are reluctant to sell.

O’Neill wants the 21-year-old prodigy to replace Gareth Barry who left for Manchester City.

Benitez was impressed by Defour during Liverpool’s Champions League clashes with Standard last season.

He sees him as the ideal replacement if Javier Mascherano or Xabi Alonso leave.

Defour’s agent Paul Stefani said: “Standard said they don’t want to let him go – but Manchster United said the same about Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It all depends on how much money they are offered.â€

old news... think this was posted in johnson thread...

anyway Even if he does stay Liverpool will win the title.. its just unfortunate he won't be getting a medal, as he won't have played enough games!!!

Rafa will fuck him off to Juve given half the chance, the fat useless shithouse.

Do you think if Rafa promises to send him a medal at the end of the season he might fuck off ?

I know he's not had a great first season but I don't think there is any harm in keeping him around for another season, what with Fabio's glass knee and Insua's youthful youthfulness .

Also Dossena wasn't all bad last season, sure he had his dodgy moments but it was his first season in England.
