'don't even bother to look at the league table until we're 10 games in'

well, it's 10 games so what do you think of the season so far?
10 points of the league leader.
5 points off 2nd place?
1 point off a CL position?

above expectations?
below expectations?
happy, sad, indifferent?
predictions for the rest of the season?

a little sad, dropped some silly points, should be much closer to city.

Would gives us a, C -

In line with expectations given the amount of new faces in the team. I'm positive about the rest of the season. We're, for the most part, showing signs of gelling and clicking as a team and, with a little bit more luck and better finishing, we'd have been right up there. I'd like to see Downing, Coates, Adam etc.. improve and progress further (which they are showing) so, yeah, little bit frustrated but mainly positive. Got to drive on and start killing teams off. Maybe a quality addition in Jan - you just never know.

Im happy with this.

You've got Chelsea, utd, Arsenal, Spurs, Ourselves and Newcastle all within a few points of each other.

a few bad injuries or a piss poor performances and all of a sudden you have a few teams vying for a Champions league place.

fuck city though, a few pundits are still calling implosion but Im not sure.

Below expectations.

The second half of last season was so good... And we ended the season so well. Ok we ended up getting beaten by Spurs in the final home game and in the race for a Europa place but that was only because Ming was injured... and we were going to be spending a load of money.

Now we've drawn 3 of our 5 home games and we should have won them all. We got beaten by Stoke, again.

Boooo.

We have played Arse away

Spurs away

Everton away

United at home

and got 7 out of 12 points, the 6 pointer versus Spurs hurt us, and as said, the 2 points dropped v united did too.

Its a B minus from me ...

This....

The reality of all those dropped points is disappointing, especially when compared to the "what could have been" total when we could conceivably have won all our games other than Spurs.

Perhaps expectations were too high at the start of the season, but so far I would only give it a C-

Below expectations. The main problem I couldn't have foreseen has been the lack of goals, especially compared to second half of last season. I suppose we've been somewhat unlucky there given the amount of times we've hit the woodwork, but I suppose the main cause of the reduction in creativity was probably the sheer number of changes to the team: after all, many more chances have been created in the last few games relative to the earlier ones.

below expectations. I expected us to have 20 points (2 points per game - CL form).
we're not far off but we've dropped some really stupid points.

D+

We should have beat Sunderland, Stoke, Norwich and Man U.

Too many dropped points.

unfortunately its our MO. We do it every year and wonder why we expect more.

I think we're bang on track now the cold light of day has washed my OTT expectations from my eyes.

We should have picked up more points, but the fact we feel hard done by by dropping points against UTD is a good marker at least. Played a few difficult away games too so i'm not too fussed at the min

Decent but in no ways spectacular.

We'll improve over the next ten mind you.

2 points per game wins the league sometimes.

I think we're about average. In the hunt for 4th place, but with no realistic chance of mounting a title challenge. It's about where I realistically expected us to be. Not sure how I'd grade it though. Could be better, could be a lot worse.

Slightly disappointed, but I'm confident we'll get better as the season progresses.

Not sure if we're good enough to keep up with Spurs though. Eek.

Bit of a disappointment but the signs are there that we can do much better. Spend too much time looking out the window and not enough time concentrating on the job in hand. C- bordering on a C+.

i think we can make top 4, but we have to get serious from now on, otherwise we could soon find ourselves well adrift. Spurs are in cracking form, but i don't think they're really any better than us over a season.

Agree with this. Spurs is hit and miss and I can't see that change this Season.

Arsenal still looks very fragile to me albeit they did surprise me last week.

Chelsea seems to have lost their focus completely will be interesting to see how Villa Boas is going to steer that ship from now on.

I think we are odds-on to get at least 4th.

About right. Look how long it took Citeh to actually come good. Same with tottenham. Newcastle as much as want them too won't be there in may.

So many new faces, a couple of injuries preventing a stable team. I think its ok.

Players are finding their feet and form, get everyone fit and a good run together and CL is a stick on

Below expectations. The reason being; our draws (can write off the losses against Stoke & Spurs as a bit unlucky and a very bad day), all of which have been stupid points to drop. You don't drop those 6 points, and we're in 2nd place!

Hopefully it's the end of it now, as too many teams (Arsenal, Spurs, Newcastle still doing well) are now clicking for us to get away with it much longer. We need to start bagging some more goals and kill games off. I believe we can be comfortably in the mix for a cl spot come the last few weeks. With any luck City will come a little unstuck along the way, perhaps we could get back in the chase.

I don't believe this many people expected us to be in second place after 10 games. Seems like some have unrealistic expectations...

I merely said we could've been had it not been for those draws. Personally I thought we'd be 4th/5th but with fuck all in it. Just 2-3 more points and I would've been happier, as it is we're doing 'alright'.

I didn't mean you in particular.

Frustrated (at silly and unfortunate lost points) but hopeful that after the next 10 games we'll be in the top 4 and close enough to 3rd.

Had WBA beaten us at the weekend we would have had exactly as many points as we had at this stage last season. So given the money spent since it hasn't been good enough.

And I think we can now firmly lay to rest that English players are worth a premium because they settle quicker and adapt better in the Premiership.

We've got past October, which was always a poor month under Kenny.

Will click from here on in, probably go on a 15+ game unbeaten run, and grab the title in the second last match of the season
