Regards to the poll, I'm going to have to vote stick rather than twist as we don't know what the alternative is and it could be really bad. e.g fat sam might be out of a job seen etc. Frying pan into the fire and all that. If Klopp would come then obviously pretty much 99% would go there.

I really think a concerted effort to get Klopp would be successful. He seems tailor made for Anfield.

Part of reason I am losing faith in him, has been the form in recent games.

Even after our defeats to united/arse, Uniteds poor form gave us a chance for 4th and we still fcuk up.

Dropping points against wba, hull and palace is appalling.

9 points additional points now and we would be level with arse in 3rd.

Does BR have enough to get us over the line? I have serious doubts which is is pretty grim 3 seasons in.

I'm not buying this Suarez and Sturridge nonsense..
.

It's not nonsense. We lost the 3rd best player in the world and then lost our only other decent striker to injury. Sturridge started 7 games this season I think. We lost 50 odd league goals from them. We clearly couldn't cope with them gone. They papered over the cracks for us and we would have walked into the top four with both of them this season. We really fucked up not replacing Suarez properly and then gambling on the fitness of Sturridge. Rodgers takes a lot of the blame for that but I don't think we had much of a chance this season losing both. Our attacking players had no one to pass the ball too. We obviously need to address it in the summer with or without Rodgers.

Fellaini has probably got them in the CL, alongside Carrick and Mata who were already there. They've fallen into the CL on account of the rest of us being more inconsistent than they are. They threw extortionate wages at Falcao and a massive fee at Di Maria and others, all whom have been just as bigger flops as our fuck ups, only even more pricey. Lets not pretend that LVG has done a good job. If we had brought in Di Maria and Falcao, 4th wouldn't be seen as success.

Completely agree, and yet we haven't taken advantage, which is a massive indictment of our management. West Brom, Hull and Crystal Palace, that's all we had to beat to get 4th as it's turned out. Not to win the league, just to get 4th!! We really should be expecting to get points from these games if we have even the tiniest of aspirations. We are the 9th richest club in the world, we have a right to expect more than we are being delivered at the moment.

They finished on par last year. Overachieved this year.

We overachieved last year. Currently on par this year.

If you want to play games with numbers of course.

Lose against Stoke and we will likely end the season below a club with a wage bill a third the size of ours!

Quite a few high profile lfc related people have started following Pako Ayesteran on Twitter today.

Coincidence? Perhaps, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the frame should Rodgers be out of a job.

I'm ready for something new. I'm fed up of a watching a team that look a) clueless at the back b) unorganised c) like a group of 11 men who don't know what the plan is.

Yes, last season was incredible - but maybe, just maybe if a more competent manager had Suarez and a fit Sturridge in his team he would have walked the league.

Fundamentals that have needed addressing for 2 seasons haven't been and doing the same thing over and over whilst expecting a different result is insane. The greatest thing he could do for us is to ensure that our key young players sign extensions and then leave and let someone else take over.

I've said it before, but the only way forward is bringing a manager that can attract players.
Klopp can open us up to a mainly untapped market in Germany.
I see no other viable candidate except the one who pisses everyone off here.

I really don't think the Suarez thing can be used as that much of a mitigation. We had the best part of a year to plan for his departure, got a not inconsiderable amount of money for his sale, and then when our target for replacing him - Sanchez - didn't come we were all over the place and spunked the money ridiculously badly. Rodgers phrasing it as if Suarez was suddenly whisked out of the club without any prior warning is disingenuous. Yes a player of his talent would have left a gap to fill, but we had an opportunity to bring a top class replacement in and fucked it up. That's a mistake, pure and simple.

There's no maybe about it.

Most people (myself included) constantly tempered our enthusiasm for last season's attacking prowess with criticism of the awful amateur league defending.

It's hard to completely separate the two things, as playing so attack minded inevitably leads to defensive weaknesses, but we conceded many goals that were available through bad defending & lack of basic coaching, just like this season.

The problems with our defensive coaching and Rodgers emphasis on our style of play was apparent last Season..

His shortcomings where found out against Chelsea..

We needed a draw.. Why the fuck did we go all out attack ?..

And when it became apparent that tactic was not going to work against Mourinho.. Why didn't he change it to tactic that forced Chelsea to come at us.. ? They needed the win.. We had enough pace to catch them on the counter..

Why did he set us up to try and win a game we simply did not need to win ?

I always maintain if we had got the result we needed against Chelsea we would have got the points easily with the form we where in with the fixtures that followed

My point these the shortcomings have become more evident as this season has gone on. Unable to adapt.. He has one rigid mentality of how he want the game to be played, that's his problem..

It probably a good reason as to why half the signings have not done as well as first thought..

Defensive coaching is a bit of a misnomer - he seems to be unable in general to coach the team to keep shape when we don't have the ball. Players out of position all over the pitch. It can be mitigated for when we are orchestrating free-flowing attacks, but it's as much of an issue when forwards are all pulling wide and no-one's getting into the box as is it when we're defending.

Erm.... I'm in total agreement with you.

"We really fucked up not replacing Suarez properly and then gambling on the fitness of Sturridge. Rodgers takes a lot of the blame for that"..

Rodgers arrived with loads of hype about how he'd had the cojones to dictate his own terms to FSG. He was that principled and proud that he was prepared to talk himself out of a dream job rather than compromise. And then...he compromised. That's a major reason, for me, why these tiresome semi-excuses - 'psst, I can't sign who I really want - pass it on!' - just don't work. If you reject a Director of Football and then accept a transfer committee (and one that seems to have the power to overrule your own wishes), then it's hard not to conclude that your problem with the D of F suggestion was more about protecting your own job than it was pursuing some sacred long term plan.

Isn't Liverpool first and foremost about winning?

Used to be. Now it's about overperforming to get 4th. Having European free seasons so we get further up the League. Possibly a cup. Moneyball & big data usage, selling our best players whilst in contract, youth development, trainee managers, player profiles, commercial sponsors etc etc

And most of all, bitch, whine, moan.

Exactly so what is there to discuss about Rodgers?
I find it a bit funny to see the same type of arguments I, RedNinja and others made in November/December now as if it's some kind of new revelation.
He got his 6 months and now we're even worse.
Just sack him.
