So much bullshit there. No signings threatened to 'bankrupt' the club. Some appalling mismanagement by Hicks and Gillett threatened to do that, but nothing now heading forward. So we have Rodgers excusing his lack of progress, even now, on a squad from four years ago, and FSG excusing their lack of progress on executive errors from about five or more years ago. The message that needs sending to both parties is: it's 2015. It's down to you. Get on with it or get out.

This is all so frustrating. It looks like there's a serious chance Klopp would come. City are apparently preparing a £40m bid for Sterling (so we'll get at least £45m). It looks like we've already got 2 decent cheap signings in the bag.

With those conditions things should be fairly easy to fix if FSG just get on and do it. I don't buy all the doom and gloom around us - *if* FSG act.

All those articles are basically regurgitating the same thing so I'm hoping the journos have been fed the info by FSG as a smokescreen.

Minus 20 per cent.

Yeah I know. £36-40m then.

Still more than enough. Pearce reckons there's a budget of £35m. Maybe £25m more in sales.

That's more than enough to solve our problems IMO. The only slight unknown is how you inject a bit of character into the team... personally I suspect that's more a problem with Rodgers than the age of the players, even if that isn't ideal. The treble team was pretty young but that had more character than any I've known.

Well I have no confidence is FSG's nous on the football side of things so we probably start next season as we were.

If he goes he has to go soon? No messing around. Get a replacement in soon so they can organise transfers, pre season etc. Knowing Liverpool they will get Klopp the day before the season starts after Rodgers has signed Sinclair, Williams and Lennon!

Yes. Mike Gordon has briefed all the hacks about this. Quite depressing in a way, because it doesn't suggest FSG are willing to change in any way. Rodgers will be told he must never again sideline new signings because he doesn't fancy them. If he agrees, it's back to the same old routine. If he refuses, he's out. Not really a proper solution.

I think other than the lack of stable tactic and visible gameplan, the biggest thing that's bugged me this season is how players have declined under him. When you start seeing that alarm bells should go off. Think of it:

Lallana - one of the best attacking midfielders in the league in 2014. Yes, we overpayed, but what happened to that player?

Markovic - lauded by some experts as one of Europe's big talents. Looks a shadow of an even decent player. Only gets a decent run at wing back

Allen - I was a major fan of his. He was class at Swansea in 2012 (under Rodgers strangely), and he was class for the first few months under us, but we haven't seen that player again, except for glimpses.

Lovren - Although gash now, he looked class last year. He may have deceived us all, but what happened to the player of last year?

Johnson - Had some great spells under Benitez and Dalglish - a real threat from the right back spot. He's been a liability for the last 18 months

Balotelli - I never really wanted him, but I know he's a better striker than this.

Lambert - Was all for him coming in at 4mil. 13 goals last year. This season he's looked like an off form Andy Carroll

I don't think FSG would publically announce a sacking of BR without carrying this annual review first..

Didn't they do the same with Kenny ?

I'm remaining hopeful..

The whole thing reads as if FSG just want Rodgers to convince them things will be better next season. Where are they getting their sense of how to run a football club from? A number on here and I'm sure across other forums and football writers in general can see that, without any argument, Liverpool is currently run by a bunch of very inexperienced people with a model that isn't working. Where are FSG getting the sense from that it will? There ought to be a review into why things didn't work out well this season but everyone can see we lack a Chairman who is actually in the country, let alone at the club, a Chief Exec who can run all the operational stuff, can network with other clubs to gain/wield influence; a DoF/Exec who can negotiate smoothly with both other clubs/players for transfers and our own players and their agents for contracts; scouts who can identify the right players, a manager and coaches who can maximise the performance from the playing squad, and a competitive squad.

None of the articles released today/last night seem to indicate they're considering any of that. Just whether Rodgers is going to continue to marginalise players. Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

If the articles are to believed, the owners won't be present at the review. They were when they sacked Kenny.

It's not a proper solution but if Rodgers is going to stay then it must be made clear to him that he can't keep throwing our investments down to the toilet as part of some childish point-scoring contest.

This all smacks of the owners not really caring about the football side of things as long as the commerical side is improving and the stadium is expanded to make the club worth more. Their total lack of interest with attending games speaks volumes. They have made sure to appoint one of their own to look after the commercial side but have neglected to footballing infrastructure to the point where it's hard to apportion blame to a signing or lack of one because no one knows whose idea it was and everyone can blame somebody else.
This is why a bullshitter like Rodgers just might get away with the train wreck of a season we have just had.

But other than that...

I had a look at the league table again - to my surprise we were 5th and not about to get relegated.

It's pretty fucking obvious. They have an asset that is underperforming and being run by people with no experience of winning anything or attracting the type of top players required to. They either care or they don't . If they do Rodgers should be out on his ear, replaced by a proven winner who can attract the players we need. Fuck me, perennial second division wank pits Chelsea and Man City have proven that if you offer the best wages, the best factilities and the best backroom staff almost any player in the world will sign. A few years ago Citeh had Shaun Goater now they've got Yara Toure. A few years ago Chelsea had Gordon Durie up fornt, nowadays then can buy Torres for £50 million and it doesn't even matter that he flops. We're going in the opposite direction.

Or they don't care about what happens on the pitch as long as people in Malaysia or wherever keep buying the shirts and subscribing to LFC to watch endless repeats of when we were good. And corporate cunts turn up for the food and drink. We're turning into a fucking nostalgia theme park. Even the players' awards had Didi banging on about Istanbul. 10 years ago.

The Liverpool Way is fucking dead. It can never be repeated. Time to grow the fuck up.

Certainly - but we have the very real prospect of finishing the season only 8pts ahead of Stoke !!! Stoke - a club with a third of our income. That maybe ok for some but......
