How did he get appointed, as in who appointed him?

Ayre is like some kid who been on the X factor, feels he's hit the big time and intends to milk it for all it's worth. I still can't get over the fact he made that crap 69 joke knowing they were shooting a documentary.

I'm not being facetious, but what do you expect to be different next season? We still haven't replaced Suarez despite having £75 million to spend on the problem last summer. What makes you think we'll do it this summer?

We were never going to be able to replace Suarez and sold him because we had cash waved in front of us and we forgot why we exist. Money seems to be a greater motivator than success at present, the owners should realize the two go hand in hand.

I think the fact he was banned for 3 months played a huge part too..

Aphex Twin's new album is the dogs.

He's one of the best examples I've ever seen of the Peter Principle (I think it's called) which states that people tend to rise to the level of their own incompetence. His time as LFC Commercial Manager is generally judged to have been successful (though that's by comparison with Parry, who tried to run the club's commercial side as well as everything else, so not exactly starting from a high baseline) and he did follow Broughton's and Purslow's lead to turf out the two cowboys, but that was his level. His appointment as CEO has always seemed like a bit of a reward for work done rather than a genuinely deserved appointment in its own right, and haven't we suffered for it.

Have you ever made an error in judgement three years ago and, although tried to rectify the mistake, still get reminded and judged about it?

Have you ever been paid millions a year to make a decision regarding something you've spent your whole life studying?

Quite a few high profile lfc related people have started following Pako Ayesteran on Twitter today.

Coincidence? Perhaps, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is in the frame should Rodgers be out of a job.

Coincidentally, Pako and Patrice both left Rafa and Houllier in limbo, they were never quite same managers for us after losing their assistants. Goes to show that all manager rely on the right set up and support

I noticed Ferguson worked with a number of assistants, some more successful than others, obviously he felt that aspect needed freshening periodically.

Rodgers may need to bring in some fresh faces.

Thanks for that Binny. I'd read an article a couple of weeks back & the work he's done there is magnificent. If he could come close to replicating it in the bigger stage he'll be a very successful manager.

Our current one is brilliant at putting the cones out and wearing shorts.

Yep, I always felt this impacted Ferguson during the years after he lost Queiroz and had Mike 'yes boss' Phelan next to him.

He's taken the 'top team' (best run team by miles) and made them better ... He seems very promising but he has taken the opportunity and run with it. Let's see how he does in Europe next year.

I wonder if, at some point in the next season or two, Inglethorpe will look for a return to a coaching role. More specifically, would he seek a role as an assistant manager with the first team. As far as a youth development job goes, he's pretty much already hit the top - the academy director job at a big club. There aren't many other clubs he can move on to from here in the same role. In one of the interviews I've seen, he seems to still like to do stuff on the pitch rather than sit behind the desk.

Obviously one of the greatest managers in the history of English football is a great example to use. Thanks Ryan.

I think he's reminiscent of Heighway in that he treats it as a vocation. I know he flirted with management in the past but I'd be surprised now if he harboured any ambition to go back to to it. He's doing a good job.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers agrees deal to pay ex-wife thousands a month in maintenance after she takes him to court

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has thrashed out a deal with his ex-wife over maintenance payments.

The 42-year-old left his wife of 14 years, Susan, last year and has since been seen out with former-Liverpool worker Charlotte Hind, 31.

Lawyers for his estranged wife have said she was 'saddened' at having to take her well-paid ex to court in order to secure financial support.

Brendan Rodgers has agreed to pay his ex-wife, Susan (pictured in 2013), four-figure monthly maintenance payments after they split last year.

A judge made a ruling on the payments after a hearing at London's Central Family Court yesterday, although full details have not been made public.

The monthly payments handed to Mrs Rodgers 'run into the thousands' after a Judicial Separation which means the couple are not officially divorced but live apart.

A spokesman for Vardags, the law firm representing Mrs Rodgers, said the Rodgers' relationship had broken down.

Lawyer Catherine Thomas added: 'Susan is saddened that after a relationship spanning 24 years she had to go to court to secure sufficient maintenance from her husband. She is also relieved to be awarded possession of the Taytos.'

He has since been seen out with Charlotte Hind, 31, a former worker at the Merseyside football club.

Sam Hall, from JMW Solicitors representing Rodgers, said: 'Given the sensitive nature of the current proceedings, Mr Rodgers has kindly asked that the privacy of his family be respected.'

Rodgers, originally from Carnlough, Co Antrim, met his wife Susan when he was a young player at Reading Football Club.

The couple have two children, Oldham Athletic footballer Anton, 20, and daughter Mischa,17.

But he split from his wife last year and is said to have since undergone an image makeover, including have his teeth whitened and losing weight.

The father-of-two also moved from the family home into a £1.2million flat.
