Dele Alli interview

And he will relapse. Recovering is not a straight line. That doesn't mean he should be shamed or discarded

Still to have this insight at a young age is incredibly helpful. Change isn't a flipped switch. Takes decades

Obviously before this interview none of us were aware of any of this and we all saw the Spurs amazon series and came to conclusions it was a simple case of new manager coming in (unfortunately for him, Jose) and passing on a few uncomfortable truths and we all linked that to his loss of love, passion call it whatever for the game.

I’m pretty sure he lost his way well before Mourinho came in. Poch in his last year tried to shuffle him between positions to no avail. “Reviving” Dele Alli’s career was a big part of what Jose was expected to accomplish at Spurs; his “tough love” method failed, but it’s not clear anything would have worked at that point. I would imagine a player taking sleeping pills multiple times during the day cannot possibly be doing well in training or in any other aspect of being a professional athlete. Wishing him the best for the rest of his career, but it would be a miracle if he somehow returned to the top.

This also makes me think is something similar going on with Jadon Sancho?

I doubt it suddenly affected him, as much as that submarine suddenly imploded. Years of pressure finally reaches a critical point.
That submarine was put together by cowboys and Dele Alli's folks were cowboys.

It's the difference between signing a player who can win you a CL in an instant and one who can't. It's the Naby line
