Had an interesting twitter discussion with Steve Nicol over our CB's.
He doesn't trust any of them.
John Barnes isn't a massive fab if Agger - "lacks fight - too worried about his face".
I just think we lack a CB unit that equalises individual inability and who's prominent competences are geared to the EPL.

Be that as it may, I'm not sure the other teams fighting for the title are much - if at all - better off. For Citeh, only Kompany's better than our lot, and for the Chavs I'm not sure any of them are, now that Terry's on the wane.

Flanagan has a long way to go to reach Carra level.
And to be fair it looks like he'll become a much better fullback than Carra ever was.
The reason I never took to Carra is probably the reason people here dislike Agger.
Its the fan boy infallible attitude people had towards him that annoyed me the most.
He was great for like 4 years but I honestly wouldn't rank him among the 10 best defenders in the premiership. I doubt he'd even make the list if I only named English players.

Well he was supposed to have been playing 'injured' (whatever that means) for much of the season. We all knew that because Rodgers kept telling us that (not that it meant 6CM gave Johnson any leeway). Maybe this break meant that whatever the issue was has now truly been fixed and we are seeing Johnson playing consistently and to a standard that we know he is capable of.

We took to Carragher because he is a local lad who would die for the shirt. Flanagan is of similar ilk. I love seeing a player like that lining out for us. They understand what it means to the fans, how important it is.
I've no motivation to go down the Carragher road with you. I find your position on it astonishing so i'll just move on.
It's not about that though Froggy. Carragher doesn't need to be ranked on a list of his peers. It's what he embodied as a player for US. Ferdinand, Vidic, Terry, Kompany etc could all be labeled better players but they aren't Jamie fucking Carragher. I think Modo is missing the point as per usual with his Carragher stance so don't encourage it.
A similar stance will probably emerge in relation to Flanagan.
Your holding those opinions, much as many of us may disagree with some or all of them, was never the problem. The problem was you hammering on about them over, and over, and over, and over again, often in completely unrelated threads when nobody else had even mentioned Carra. That very definitely *was* trolling and would have been seriously annoying on any subject. Add to that the fact that Carra was a fans' favourite - whether or not you thought he should have been - and it really isn't surprising you got stick for it.

That's why I said I find your stance in relation to Carragher baffling. Which it is. You are the ONLY person who positions themselves in some sort of weird anti carra agenda, which is why I question whether you 'get' it.
If Modo doesn't understand why he gets stick for his anti Carra bashing then he's either trolling or should support someone else.

Aquilani could have been the perfect match for our current system.

I'm guessing you overrate Agger because he scored a few goals early on, or he's relatively local to where you're from.
