Debrecen vs Liverpool (& Fiorentina vs Lyon)

His dribble on the edge of our box followed immediately by him granting the referee the perfect opportunity to make a mistake, capped an absolutely horrible performance in every area of the pitch. Unfortunately, he's a liability at the moment, and one we can't afford when we're so ineffectual in other areas.

Ryan, it's about raw materials

I'm not naïve enough to think that every Liverpool youngster will be Fowler, Gerrard, Carra or Owen

But if those materials do not include some or all of the the following; strength, pace, innate talent, desire, footballing nous, then you're fucked, and you will never make it

Insua and Lucarse will never make it

It's obvious
Everyone knows it

Well, I've already said I dodn't suspect Insua will be good enough in the long run (in fact, I was the first cunt to point out on this site about a year ago that he wasn't good) but given our options and injuries in that position, he's getting, and will continue to get, gametime.

That being what it is, he needs assistance. Jonny Evans was a fucking horror show in his first 15-20 games for United, ditto Glen Johnson in his time at Chelsea, Gibbs at Arsenal, Ashley Cole was a fucking massive liability when he first got games at left-back (prompting many to state he should have been playing on the left wing). Young players do take time, and do need support.

Regardless of whether he's got the attributes to be a fucking world beater or not, he's getting neither of those things with us at the moment.

No you weren't.

Me, Nov 2008: "Insua is a tubby, overrated, lazy fucker who can't defend for toffee"

I think you're confusing something I said, for something you said, and then repeating it.

Wouldn't be the first time

I must admit, I thought Insua was a good prospect, but still that was faced as an alternative to Aurellio, and Dosenna, and Riise before that, I claim some immunity. I never rated Warnock but against all the others named, he looks great

regards

Selling Riise and buying Dossena for twice the price is one of our Manager's masterstroke.
Rafa said he wanted the fullbacks attacking the flanks not the wingers. That was original but plain stupid.
Dossena, Insua cant do that....Oh Riise could! Ok he wasnt the best defender, but I dont think he was worse than the first 2 in that area.

I want my fullbacks to defend, my wingers going down the wings and my strikers score.
Thats their job. When their job is done they can add something to the(ir) game.
Its not rocket science
