So, do we think this has some legs and that he might actually leave?

@MundoDeportivo
: Barcelona have now made their move for Luis Diaz. The forward dreams of playing for Barca and is willing to wait for the sell of Raphinha in order to get his move. Al-Hilal want to sign Raphinha and can give Barca the funds they need to sign Diaz.

He'll want to go, I don't think we'll stand in his way, but we'll get a good fee.

Ideally we have appropriate targets lined up before any deal goes through

I think we should let him go, and if Salah doesn't resign, he too can go.

Or slott will just move gakpo into that position. Hope not as i think we need someone who can beat a man and make things happen on the pitch.

The benefit of this is that Raphinha is going to significant money we can name our price for Diaz. I do think he will improve next season regardless. We see it all the time that a player needs 12-18 months to recover from a year out, however, the impact is doubled for wingers who rely on that pace and acceleration to get past players. Diaz was never rapid, but he did have the pace to go either way. I'm not convinced he does now. He's cutting in all the time or running down blind alleyways. He's also not great positionally at arriving into the box at the right time. He can do it, but not enough, and his finishing is patchy when he does.

This may read hypercritical but standards are high. He's no Mane and we need that calibre to win the league.

What do we think we can get? £60M-65M would do it for me.

Yeah I think we will ask for 70mil and get close to it - it will cost around that to replace him unless we are going full moneyball about it

That clip makes me want to punch him.

He does it every game.

Endless mazy dribbling with his head down bringing him farther and further away from goal until he runs out of ideas, then a stupid cross into outer space

All flash and no end product. Sell please.

i was going to ask what the right price is but yea that would do for me alright, even a little less might satisfy the club.

not quite sure we can name our price though, the amounts being tweeted about for Raphinha are record amounts for the saudi league and they seem to be averse to putting a lot into fees. if barcelona do wangle a huge fee watch them low ball us regardless and try to leverage the player wanting to leave.

That was my first thought on seeing the clip too. All sizzle, no steak.

(I made a typo and nearly put "nob steak" and that would have worked too.)

If he wants to go and Barca want to pay us a small fortune (+ the Coutinho balance), then cheerio.

£70m+ and we’ll do business.

It’s either that or he signs an extension.

Don’t really care which - he either commits to the new regime and we see what Slot can do with the type of winger he loves or we cash in and replace.

Gakpo has been one of the most influential players for the Dutch on the left. He can certainly play there next season.
We need to sign another wide player if Diaz leaves though.

If the rumours linked to Nunez there would be plenty of fans fine with the sale, but they do not. Personally speaking, we should be open to all offers for our attackers. There's a general feeling that the attack needs re-jigging to one that has more chemistry and balance and we will not achieve that without some upheaval. Plus, we would never have to hear from that bowling ball resembling twat of a Father. No serious negotiation was required for his release; the kidnappers just got sick of his shit and rolled that dumpling out the door.

Wow. What did Diaz do to deserve all this hate ?

Are you all confusing the wrong South American ?

Got cheated in business recently by a Colombian perhaps ?

I’m very comfortable with Gakpo competing for a spot on the LW - I think he offers goal threat and his right-footed cross is an excellent creative weapon (that is not utilized when he plays through the middle).

I’m NOT comfortable at this point with him being our MAIN option on LW. Someone needs to progress the ball, do what Salah and Mane did for us for years and neigher Gakpo nor Salah at this age are that player. We need at least one player of the Minteh/Nico Williams type who will create threat for others to exploit.
