Diaz has been sh1t... Really offers nothing at the moment.
We really miss the high press up the pitch our attackers use to give.
I think it's time we played Nunez on the left, Dom in the middle and Salah on the right. If Diaz doesn’t find form, selling him should be an option on table. Maybe a swap deal with Brentford for Toney?

We won't sell in January. History tells me that Klopp will hold on to him until his contract is up and then release him for free.

I’d agree he hasn’t been good but he’s scored one less league goal than Nunez who hasn’t had major knee surgery recently or a kidnapped dad.

How are we 2nd in the league, yet have Diaz playing regularly I have no idea.

Klopp is an absolute genius in playing with 10 men.

His work-rate is superb; he gives us similar protection down the left wing as Sadio did. Very useful when you are facing against someone like Saka.

What’s clear is that he has lost a yard of explosive acceleration compared to his pre-injury self - watching these clips from his first few months it’s immediately obvious:

Without that burst of acceleration he is simply not as effective at creating chances and general attacking play. I saw some people suggesting moving him to centre-forward, as he’s actually quite a clinical finisher and also brave in terms of throwing himself into physical challenges. Maybe swapping him and Nunez for the time being, until they both work out their respective issues, is not such a bad idea. Let’s see if Klopp experiments with this while Salah is away.

Yep, it's sad and disappointing. Before his injury he looked on track to become another one of the great LFC wingers, but it's just not clicking for him right now. He needs a period being behind Nunez at LW and to also reevaluate his game.

Klopp should get him to stay wider. He keeps taking the ball in the half space cuts infield and does nothing. He's also not combining efficiently with anyone on the left side. He will get better, but I've already given up on him being the next super star in our forward line.

Klopp must be happy with what he’s seeing because for 1) he keeps getting picked and 2) he’s doing the same thing over and over again.

We’re not seeing anything he’s been asked to do differently otherwise we’d ass it.

There isn’t really any other option available to Klopp.

Yeah - he has been shit, but I don't buy into all this business about him losing something after the injury. One of the best performers in the Spurs game was actually Diaz - he was like his old self, and he had a good start to the season, and he even scored when he returned last season. I am starting to doubt his commitment and to me it looks like he wants a move out by playing shit deliberately, I don't know what has caused this, was he forced to play a game when all that stuff about his father was taking place ? - did he ask to go abroad and he was not allowed ? Every decision he is making is utter shit up front now. What the fuck is he doing in training ? - in fact what the fuck are all our front men doing in training ? the collective decision making in confined space by all our front men in the final third is bordering on stupidity right now.

Oh FFS. Injury, kidnapping etc. And it's "sell him for Toney". A player who hasn't played for 6 months and plays in a different position. These bloody gamers.
I did say if he doesn't find form (between now and summer). Ivan Toney would have had game time by then and he is a proper #9

He should be coming on as a sub since Nuñez and Gakpo are performing better. Hope Klopp kicks his ass

Even for Spurs he only came into it after we went down to 10 men and he was playing alongside Mo as a front 2 or a 10 position. He is quite hopeless on the wings really.

He rarely goes to the byline, he doesn't cross the ball, he cuts in all the time into traffic and either loses it or passes it side/back. His only strength is as a ball carrier, but even that was negated by Manu and Arse when they got to him high up in the pitch just as he gets the ball and he struggles to even keep it. He couldn't even get pass Antony.

As someone before said, he seems to be better as someone who gets onto the end of chances, instead of the one who is creating chances. Because at the moment he's created little to nothing. He is just breaking up / slowing down all the plays whenever the ball reaches him.

[article]Liverpool hero Jamie Carragher has questioned the form of Luis Diaz.

Carragher feels Diaz is struggling this season.

Carragher told the Gary Neville Podcast: "Looking at Liverpool's front three, there's something not right about it.

"Gakpo has been here for nearly 12 months and he's had flashes but nowhere near enough. Diaz looks a shadow of himself after his knee injuries last season.

"I really feel that Diaz needs to have a good second half of the season otherwise Liverpool will be going into the market in the summer on the left-hand side. It just feels that with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino going, they haven't replaced them in terms of quality.

"I know Darwin Nunez started on the bench and he is on a poor run of form in terms of goals, but Nunez has to be almost the first names on the teamsheet.

"Even in the midweek Carabao Cup win over West Ham, he creates a goal and he creates panic, there's a feeling of even if it's not going well, he can run past someone or get a shot off. Somewhere he could do something.

"It feels like we are still making excuses for him but Liverpool have still got right now in terms of a front three is: Salah is your No 1, Nunez is your No 2 and then who else in the front three?"[/article]

So why are you suggesting we swap a 9 for a winger?
What Ivan Toney is a #9 and has been far more clinical than almost all our strike force. Now let's say Diaz doesn't pick up form, do you think we should sell him or give him another season?

That isn't the point. Why are you suggesting swapping a #9 for a winger? It doesn't solve the issue.

The only way that would work would be to push Nunez out left and bring in Toney in the centre. But that isn't what you've suggested.

yes it is. I called Tony a #9, and I said to play Nunez on the left, check the first post on the thread. This thread isn't about Toney but Diaz whose performance has drawn criticism from all qtrs. I asked, if his form doesn't pick-up he should be sold? And I threw on the name Toney but I am flexible

Diaz and Nunez are excellent rhythm guitarists and background vocalists when we had the lead guitarist and singer of Mane,Salah. Whether they have the talent, and mentality to grab the mike and carry this band forward when Salah departs is an open question. At this point, I am a bit unsure and tend towards no.

Irrespective of what other clubs pay, given the way we do business, if we pay more than 50 million plus on attacking players, we need them to step up in a year or two and take center stage.

He has 18 games to prove me and other detractors wrong, but as it stands now, he isn't deserving of a starting role.
Diaz is a winger and Ivan Toney is a #9. Gakpo, Jota and Nunez can all play LW

I think we will find out what our forward line is really really like when Mo goes away. I think the extra pressure that will be placed upon them will make them either thrive or just fall apart.

It's mad that we've signed Nunez, Diaz and Gakpo who can all play on th left, and yet the left hand side is still the problem

Cant disagree with that.

Defenders have figured him out, he's just too predictable.
Always the same move, stares down the defender, tries to run past the defender, cuts in on his right. Rinse and repeat.
Does he ever cross the ball with his weaker foot?
That's why he had to backheel the ball to Diogo because the defenders knew that he was gonna try to cut in and shoot with his right foot.
