Liverpool have confirmed Philippe Coutinho will undergo a procedure on the shoulder injury he sustained in Monday evening's 2-2 draw with Swansea City.

The Brazilian was forced from the field during the second half of the contest at the Liberty Stadium following a challenge with Ashley Williams.

After being assessed by the Reds medical staff, it's been decided that Coutinho will now have surgical stabilisation on the AC joint in his shoulder.

Liverpool hope to have the 21-year-old back in contention again towards the end of October.

well we invested in aspas , alberto and took moses on loan . We should have cover and they should be able to do a decent job , otherwise what was the point in signing them . And suarez is back soon

Much as I love him, to be honest he's not exactly been on fire since the start of the season, so it's not THAT much of a loss. It will make Rodgers consider other permutations, which might serve to strengthen us in the long term.

Alberto is an option, also it does give Henderson a guaranteed place in the team now that Suarez will return.

I think it would have been interesting to try Suso in the hole. He doesn't have the goal threat of Coutinho, but he does have the quickness of mind and feet to lay them on. And with Moses, Studge and Suarez to find, he wouldn't need to score too many you'd hope. Anyhoo, since it isn't an option, any takers for SG playing there, with Lucas and Hendo/ Allen behind?

I wouldn't mind that at all.The good thing is it's very clear we've got several options, which is refreshing.

I've seen a couple of instances on here of people actually blaming the injury on Coutinho himself because he dived. Is this a general opinion? Its certainly not mine.

Allen will be back soon?

Wouldnt be surprised to see Allen, Lucas, Henderson and Gerrard all playing.

Sorry for the lad, don't think he's been poor at all this Season, actually very much the opposite - our main creative outlet. Yeah he's had rough patches (in the second half mainly with the rest of them) but when we play to our strengths and don't sit back he's been a revelation.

Will be dearly missed, unless of course Alberto or Allen or Gerrard steps up and delivers the goods.

Its shite news. Suarez coming back softens the blow but we're missing one of our most creative player against 5 teams that we should beat.

Henderson to play centrally against Soton, and then push Suarez into the team after that.
Let Alberto and Allen have a crack aswell.

Hopefully we've got enough goal threat to win most of those 5 games he'll miss.

This.

And I think after the next game, the formation will pretty much be a no-brainer considering what we've seen so far. I guess he'll go:

----------Gerrard-----Lucas
----------------Henderson
Moses-------------------Suarez
--------------Sturridge

Since when did this notion come about that Henderson is a better attacking midfielder than Gerrard?

I hope we play Gerrard or Alberto in that position.

I thought the game changed soon as he went off against Swansea.
Williams is a complete cnt, hate how he strolls around the pitch with his massive fat ass. He make no attempt to play the game.

When you consider how he got injured doing a swan dive this makes you more angry.

What a weird one.... It looked very much to me that he was making the most of the silly trailing foot that Williams left in there, he certainly saw it coming....stupid injury....

We're doomed.

He was diving through the air before Williams touched him, watch the replay

Blinkers , it was a dive

Watched it again. He actually got a kick in the balls. At the very least a very poor tackle attempt by Williams and Coutinho took evasive action to avoid being broken in two. Unfortunately he incurred an injury in the fall.

Anyone would do whatever it takes to avoid a kick in the balls.
I don't think Coutinho is the type that dives too often.
Ashley Williams is a mouthy nasty cunt who has never had a good word to say about Liverpool so he can fuck off.
I don't care what he did to Van Persie he's still a scumbag.

How the fuck was it a dive? He was clearly trying to avoid Williams' boot and indeed his knee. Fucking hell, Fox.

4:07 shows a good angle:

I hope we risk Alberto in the CAM role, I honestly think he'll be a revelation

Hang on, he was shit yesterday, up until about 8pm, He might be shit again on Friday, or he might pass a late shit test on Saturday morning. Caution!
