Chairman of Hull City AFC, Dr Assem Allam, has revealed his delight at securing the services of Steve Bruce as the club's new manager.
Bruce was confirmed as the new man in charge of the Tigers on Friday afternoon and Dr Allam believes the former Birmingham and Sunderland manager ticks all of the right boxes when it comes to knowing how to achieve success and promotion in the Championship.
"Steve was my first choice from day one," said Dr Allam.
"He is a fantastic person and even on the way to the stadium on Friday, so many people were welcoming him and he was so warm towards them all.
"I'm sure he will settle very quickly here. He ticks all of the boxes. I wanted somebody with experience of promotion from the Championship and somebody with experience of keeping a club in the Premier League.
"Steve is also a very experienced man, so what else could you want?
"As Steve has mentioned, he will need to make a few additions to what is already a very good squad and he has the promise of money available to do that.
"He will now take some time to look at his squad and decide what he wants."
Steve Bruce is relishing the challenge of taking Hull City back to the Premier League.
Bruce was confirmed as the club's new manager at a press conference on Friday and left journalists and supporters with no doubts about his main aim.
"Having spoken to the owners of the club, the one thing they want is the Premier League," said Bruce.
"That is my aim as well and that is the reason why I am sitting here today - the challenge of achieving just that.
"I'm relishing the challenge of trying to get the club back to where we all want it to be. I've signed a three-year deal and I hope we do it in that time.
"I can't wait to get started because everything has been very positive so far.
"We've got some very, very good young players here and I'm impressed with the calibre of player here. Obviously we will look to add to the squad and look to take the team forward. It's vital that we keep hold of the young players that we've got, though, and it's my job along with the Chairman to make sure that we do.
"Pretty much all we have spoken about over the last two-and-a-half weeks is the ambition to get the club back into the Premier League. We know that won't be easy because there are lots of clubs in the Championship with the same philosophy.
"But the reason I am at Hull City is because I believe we have got the ability to get to the Premier League. Certainly when you look at the stadium, fan-base and infrastructure - those are all in place and now we take on the project of getting to where the club wants to be."
Having interrupted a family holiday to carry out his media commitments after finalising terms, Bruce is already at work analysing the squad at his disposal.
"There'll be a few additions, which is only inevitable," added the new City manager.
"But I like the squad that is here and we're hoping that there are some good times ahead. One of the challenges I like about this club is that the squad is young and I hope with my experience we can make them even better players."
Bruce also stressed that he wants to deliver an exciting time for the club's fans when the new season kicks off in August.
"I hope the fans are excited about the future and what can happen here. We want to make it an exciting time for the fans and for them to really get behind the team."

The 19-year-old midfielder joined the Gunners as a trainee in 2008 and made his first two senior appearances last season - in a League Cup clash with Shrewsbury and the 8-2 Premier League loss to Manchester United.
"There are many experienced players at this club and I want to learn from them. It's a significant advantage for me," he told Besiktas' official website after signing.
The Turkish giants announced that their new signing is set to receive a €100,000 (£81,000) signing-on fee, a per-game bonus of €7,500 (£6,100) limited for 40 games, and wages of €400,000 (£324,000) in his first season.
These will rise to €425,000 (£344,000) in his second, €450,000 (£364,000) in his third and €475,000 (£384,000) in his fourth season at the club.
Oguzhan has represented the Netherlands, the country of his birth, at youth international level, but has this year declared his intention to represent Turkey at international level.
ALBION are delighted to announce the appointment of club icon Darren Moore as their new Professional Development Coach.
The 38-year-old will work alongside Lead Professional Development Coach James Shan and the pair will oversee the Academy's Under-18s squad.
Moore enjoyed two promotions to the Barclays Premier League with the Baggies during a 20-year professional playing career that also included spells with Torquay, Doncaster, Bradford, Portsmouth, Derby, Barnsley and Burton.
He is currently in the process of completing his UEFA Pro Licence and his return to The Hawthorns has been welcomed by the club's hierarchy, who hope to make use of his exceptional experience in their work towards Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) status.
Sporting & Technical Director Dan Ashworth said: "As a former player and club legend, we thought we'd tap into Darren's vast experience.
"He knows the area and the club inside out and has a lot to offer our up-and-coming players.
"He's embarking on what we firmly believe will be a successful coaching and managerial career.
"The great thing is that many of the guys who have previously filled this role - Craig Shakespeare, Michael Appleton, Keith Downing - have gone on to become first-team/senior coaches and managers in their own right.
"This will hopefully be the start of something special for Darren and we're delighted to give him the opportunity."
Academy Manager Mark Harrison also gave Moore a glowing reference, insisting the combination of his coaching pedigree and understanding of the Premier League is too good to let pass by.
"We're delighted that Darren has joined the club," he said.
"He will obviously work closely with James Shan, who has looked after the Under-18s for a couple of seasons and is well aware of the club's structure and philosophy.
"Darren has obviously got vast playing experience, but what some people don't realise is that he has spent a number of years gaining his coaching qualifications and he is currently finishing off his UEFA Pro Licence.
"He now needs the opportunity to gain some coaching experience and it's a situation that works for everybody.
"Darren knows the club from top to bottom and he has experience of playing at the highest level, so the boys will undoubtedly benefit from that.
"The other added bonus is that Darren is a local lad who grew up in the area, and that means he has a similar background to many of our younger players.
"He is incredibly enthusiastic and he is desperate to come and help the Academy in any which way he can.
"He's also very passionate about this football club and it is still very much in his heart."
DARREN Moore admits he is 'absolutely delighted' to be joining Albion's Academy staff as Professional Development Coach.
The 38-year-old returns to The Hawthorns six years after leaving as a player - and his appointment signals his retirement as a professional footballer - after clocking up nearly 600 league appearances at eight different clubs.
But Moore is now eager to begin his coaching career as the club embark on a new era under the stewardship of head coach Steve Clarke.
And the Handsworth-born centre-half hopes to replicate his Albion glory days with the club's Under-18s, as he returns to the place he calls 'home'.
"I'm absolutely delighted to be rejoining the club and it's fantastic to take on the role that the club have offered me," he said.
"I'm chuffed and I can't wait to get started - it feels like I'm coming home.
"This is a club that I hold very, very close to my heart and I've had some great success here.
"I hope that success will continue in a coaching capacity.
"It's now time for me to use my experience of playing in all four divisions of the English game to help the players I will be working with.
"I'm looking to bring that experience with me, but I'm also going to be like a sponge in a bucket of water, in terms of trying to learn as much as I can about coaching.
"I know I have plenty of hard work ahead of me to be as good as I want - but this is something I want to work hard on and be the best at.
"I'm in a situation where I have been looking after myself for a number of years and now it's time to look after a group of 20 lads.
"We'll be putting them through their practices throughout the week and then gearing them up for their game on a Saturday.
"I'll be looking to show them the hard, tough mentality required to play in the Premier League.
"The likes of Wayne Rooney, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Gareth Bale and Theo Walcott were all 17 when they broke into the first team at their clubs.
"I've heard so many good things about this group of lads and I want to help push them into the first-team frame.
"I don't see any reason why that can't happen and that's why I'm looking forward to working with them."
And Moore has revealed he turned down a number of other offers to return to The Hawthorns this summer, including opportunities to continue playing.
But he believes the time is right to hang up his boots.
"I had about six or seven other options, but I just felt that with my connections to the football club that this was the best option for me," he insisted.
"The club and fans have always been fantastic towards me and even when I didn't play here I have always been looked after.
"I'm thankful to all the football clubs and organisations that came in for me, but as soon as Albion were interested they went straight to the top of the list.
"I have the utmost respect for everybody at the football club and I'm looking forward to meeting new faces and linking up with the old faces that were here when I was."
He added: "I had considered playing on for another season, but I thought it was the right time to stop, given the nature of this appointment.
"I have now officially retired from the playing side of the game and closed the door on that part of my career.
"I've had a 20-year long playing career and if I can have a coaching career as long as that then I'll be a very happy man.
"Everybody said when I left Burton that I had retired, but I never said that and this is me confirming that I have retired from playing.
"It's going to be strange because in pre-season when the lads line-up for their first run I'll have to stop myself from running off with them!
"I'll have to remind myself that I don't need to do that anymore."
VfB Stuttgart have boosted their forward ranks for the coming season, snapping up Tunay Torun from Hertha BSC Berlin on a free transfer. The 22-year-old Hamburg-born Turkish international has put pen to paper on a three-year deal, through to June 2015.
Torun, who has made 47 Bundesliga appearances for Hertha BSC and Hamburger SV, scoring six goals, has been allocated the number 17 shirt at his new club.
"We're very happy that Tunay Torun has opted to join VfB. He's a young player with full international experience, who can be deployed in a number of positions up front. We have high hopes of him over the next three years," Stuttgart sporting director Fredi Bobic said.
For his part, Tunay Torun commented, "VfB Stuttgart are an ambitious club with a great tradition and I'm really looking forward to the prospect of playing here from next season onwards. Obviously I'll be reconnecting then with Bruno Labbadia, the coach who gave me the opportunity to show what I could do at HSV, and mentored me during my time there. My aim at VfB Stuttgart is to continue that process of development."
Jay Rodriguez has become Saints' first signing since the club's return to the Premier League for a substantial undisclosed fee.
22 year-old striker Rodriguez is widely regarded as one of the hottest properties outside of the Barclays Premier League, with his prolific goal scoring record moving him on to the radar of several top-flight teams.
The deal to sign the promising young forward was formally agreed whilst Rodriguez was on holiday in Mexico, and today he put pen to paper on a four year contract alongside Saints Executive Chairman Nicola Cortese.
Burnley-born frontman Rodriguez has been The Clarets' top goalscorer for the previous two seasons, during which time he also gained international recognition with England Under-21s.
He made his professional debut in the Championship aged just 18 and went on to finish his opening season on loan at Scottish side Stirling Albion where he grabbed his first senior goals in an 11 game spell.
Jay went on to play a bigger role the following year as Burnley earned promotion to the Premier League. He landed the Club's Young Player of the Season award, whilst he also added League Cup goals against Fulham and Tottenham to his name.
Despite not featuring in his hometown side's sole top-flight campaign due to an injury setback, Rodriguez maintained his match sharpness with a loan spell back in the Championship with Barnsley.
It paid off as the youngster went on to strike 15 times in Burnley's return to the second tier, although a Clarets side which also featured current Saints duo, Danny Fox and Jack Cork, narrowly missed out on a place in the play-offs.
He elected to stay on at Turf Moor when Cork and Fox departed for St Mary's last summer, but the youngster continued to enhance his glowing reputation, finishing as Burnley's outright leading scorer with 21 goals, a feat which also won him the Club's Players' Player of the Year award.
Rodriguez ended the 2011/12 campaign just four strikes short of 50 career goals, and was also named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year alongside Saints stars, Kelvin Davis, Adam Lallana, and Rickie Lambert.
His move to Saints provides Rodriguez with an opportunity to realise his aspirations at both club and international level.
Jay Rodriguez said:
"I'm really relieved that we've got it sorted now, and it's done. I really can't wait for the start of the season, and the start of pre-season.
"This is a great club, a massive club, and they're where they belong. It's a squad I want to be a part of, and it's really exciting.
"As an outsider, you look at the club from where it started, and the drive they have to move up the leagues in quick succession is amazing.
"The sky is the limit. You see how good the players are at the club. They want to push on even higher, and carry on the way they're going."
Nigel Adkins commented:
"Jay is an exciting young English prospect, so I am really happy he is our first signing of the summer. There has been a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes on several fronts and we are delighted Jay has signed us as we get ready for our pre-season schedule.
"He is an exciting forward thinking player who has already scored a lot of goals at a young age over the past couple of years. His characteristics are what we have been looking for.
"He has demonstrated a superb attitude and when we have met him it has only confirmed what our research has told us. He has a hungry and enthusiastic attitude with a desire to work hard in the positive environment that we have at Southampton where will be able to develop his talent."
Barnet FC is delighted to announce that Mark Robson has been appointed as The Bees' new Head Coach. In a comprehensive transformation of the club's footballing strategy, Mark will be overseeing the running of First Team matters. However, another major part of his role will be to aid the development of Academy football at The Hive Training Centre. The appointment comes after weeks of extensive interviews with select candidates who were eager to take the helm of the club following the departures of Lawrie Sanchez and Martin Allen respectively - the latter who was brought in for the last three games of the 2011-2012 Season to maintain The Bees' League 2 status.
43-year-old Robson is widely regarded as one of the best qualified coaches in the professional game, holding a UEFA Pro License and previously coaching under managers such as Alan Curbishley, Les Reed and Alan Pardew. He brings with him a wealth of experience and the ability to manage professional footballers of all ages and abilities, having worked as Charlton Athletics' Development Coach. This position was then followed by his appointment as Assistant Head Coach to Les Reed. His more recent roles have seen him work as Assistant Manager at Gillingham and as Peterborough United's First Team Coach under Darren Ferguson. His playing career saw him represent the likes of Exeter City, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham, Charlton Athletic and Notts County, where he finally hung up his boots in 1999.
The move is seen by the club as a major shift in our footballing philosophy where, previously, we have appointed a Manager whose sole focus was to oversee First Team selection and tactics - this has seen us battle relegation on the last day of the previous three seasons. The aim now is to establish a 'pure football brand' where only highly-qualified coaches will be taking charge of all aspects of football within Barnet FC, from the Academy all the way through to the First Team.
Speaking about the appointment of Mark Robson, and the new structure of the club, Barnet FC's Director of Football, Paul Fairclough, said, "I want the club to become renowned for the way they pass the ball and try to play their way through opposition, as opposed to over them. Obviously, results are important but those results can be achieved by playing good, entertaining football. The season we were promoted from the Conference the side played some useful stuff. Things have moved on now and we have a fantastic Centre of Excellence producing good results at all levels by teaching the kids to pass and support, as opposed to using brute force. One of our major problems in the past has been noticed when some of our young scholars were called into train with the First Team - they were lost as everything they were taught in the Academy went out of the window. We need a structure that recognises and complements what goes on at Barnet's grass roots level. We need a philosophy of playing the game that flows right through the club, including the First Team. It does not make sense to do one thing then the complete opposite just when the fruit is about to ripen."
He continued, "With this in mind, rather than have a Football Manager with some coaching skills, I believe we need a Head Coach who can be taught management skills. To assist Barnet in establishing a footballing philosophy we have appointed Mark Robson as our new "Head Coach/Manager". Mark is a highly skilled, highly qualified and respected coach in the professional game. He will not waiver from his beliefs. I am convinced that if results were not going in our favour, Mark would look for new solutions without compromising our philosophy and his personal beliefs on how the game should be played. In Mark Robson we have secured the services of a forward-thinking coach who will lead the club along a new and exciting pathway. I truly see this as a new dawn for Barnet Football Club."
Barnet FC Chairman, Tony Kleanthous, also spoke about the club's new footballing structure, "I am proud of what our youth policy has achieved in such a short space of time. Academy 2 status means a financial commitment of £1m per annum in the football club's Youth Development Policy and, coupled with the world class facilities available at The Hive, we hope to attract some of the best coaches in football. This season we are also looking to introduce an Under 21 Development Squad to provide a link through for the youth players into the First Team. This structure will be overseen by Paul Fairclough, our Director of Football."
As well as taking up a key role within The Bees' new footballing structure Head Coach, Mark Robson, will be also be responsible for recommending players and coaching staff to bring in. However, no further announcement can be made by Barnet Football Club as to the developments on this matter at present.
New Fiorentina Sporting Director Daniele Prade announced today the completion of a deal set up by old DS Pantaleo Corvino bringing in Egyptian National Team Central Defender Ahmed Hegazy for a reported 1.5 million Euros.
Hegazy is 21 years old, 6 foot 4 inches tall and has spent his entire club career with Ismaily (32 appearances, no goals). He has 5 caps with Egypt, most recently playing a full 90 minutes last Friday as Egypt beat Mozambique 2-0 in CAF’s Group G qualifying play. He also has 5 caps for Egypt’s under 23 and 11 caps, with 2 goals for the under 20s.
With the likely departures of Cesare Natali and Per Kroldrup, Hegazy will look to anchor the Viola defense for a long time to come. His first words as a Viola:
“Getting to wear the purple shirt is a dream come true; to be in Florence to sign this contract is the best moment of my life and my career, I am a central defender and I’ll immediately be available to the next coach.”
Vincenzo Montella is the new Coach of Fiorentina after he signed a two-year contract with the Tuscan outfit.
Montella joins the Viola after impressing at Catania this season. His deal also includes an option for a third season.
The former striker, who had a brief stint on the bench at Roma in 2010-11, will be presented to the media later today.
Fiorentina were looking for a new Coach after Delio Rossi was sacked in May following a touchline brawl with Adem Ljajic.

Crewe Alexandra can confirm that Nick Powell has just signed for Manchester United for an undisclosed fee.#crewealex#mufc
Nick Powell, 18, has today agreed a four-year contract with Manchester United Football Club.
The talented teenager has moved to Old Trafford for an undisclosed fee after agreeing personal terms with Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
Powell, who is also a regular for the England Under-18 side, signed his deal after passing a medical examination.
The Haslington-based youngster progressed through the club's renowned Academy system before making his debut under previous manager Dario Gradi away at Cheltenham Town in August 2010.
He was cautiously introduced to league football by Gradi, making 19 appearances in his first season, most of them coming as a second half substitute. He failed to score in his opening 27 matches for the club, but broke that run with a stunning solo goal away at AFC Wimbledon on October 15th 2011.
Dario described that as the moment as 'the one when he finally arrived on the scene' and he ironically followed that goal up with another well-taken finish against Oldham Athletic in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, in what proved to be Gradi's final game in charge of the first team.
Steve Davis continued to select Powell after succeeding the long-serving Gradi and he repaid that faith with match winning performances and goals. Crucial goals against Morecambe and Hereford kick started Crewe's season towards a play-off place and his consistent displays quite rightly saw him named as the club's Player-of-the-Season. He also scored the club's goal of the season against Gillingham with a blistering 35-yard drive in a thrilling 4-3 win.
He was also named as the Football League's Apprentice of the Year for Npower League Two at their annual awards in London in March.
Powell finished the season as the club's top scorer with 16 goals from his 45 appearances. He arguably scored his most memorable goal in his final appearance for the club with a wonderful strike against Cheltenham at Wembley.
After completing his transfer to Manchester United this afternoon, Nick Powell has thanked Crewe Alexandra for helping his development as a young player. Powell has signed a four-year deal with the Old Trafford club and will now be challenging for a place in one of the outstanding squads in world football.
Powell, 18, has been subject of much speculation throughout the summer, but our former Academy graduate firmly believes that his future development is best served with Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
On completing his 'dream move' to the Premiership side, Powell said: "It really is a dream come true to be signing for Manchester United. I have had a great time at Crewe and I would like to thank them for helping me to develop as a player over the past 13 years.
"I'm excited about continuing my development with Sir Alex and the world class players in the squad. The thought of making the step up to the Premier League next year is an exciting prospect. I can't wait to get started."
Sir Alex Ferguson says he is looking forward to working with our former Academy graduate Nick Powell after the 18-year-old completed his move to Old Trafford late this afternoon. Powell has signed a four-year deal with the Premier League side and the vastly experienced Ferguson admits his club had been eyeing the England Under-18 starlet for a while.
The Manchester United manager said: "We have scouted Nick for months now. He is an exceptional talent and has been schooled well at Crewe. I'm delighted he has chosen to come to (Manchester) United. He has a lot to offer and we are all looking forward to working with him."
Powell was named Crewe's Player-of-the-Season after finishing top scorer with 16 goals in all competitions as the club won promotion to League One.
