Why look to "squaddies" when we need new players in the starting line up?
Priorities people, damn it.

Because we're thread bare. We need to get first teamers, but we also need capable back ups. I'm not convinced Cole, aqua & maxi are going to be here next season. We can't afford 3 great players, nor would 1 or 2 be willing to sit on the bench depending on formation.

We need good players who are capable as well as great ones

A great first xi doesn't win you leagues, it's a great squad

Ah we need a back up striker, I forgot.
But we need starting midfielders and wingers as well. It would relegate Adam, Hendo and Downing to the bench and that would be a decent set of subs.
I think it would be stupid of us to let Aqua go for next to nothing considering that he's imo better than what we already have.
I'd love to see a midfield three of Lucas, Aqua and Gerrard. In that case we only need one player, maybe Ramirez to compliment Suarez and Carroll up front.
Sell Cole and Maxi and promote Suso and Sterling.
Subs: Doni, Coates, Kelly, Adam (hope not), Downing, Henderson, New Striker.
Backup, Carra, Edit: Shelvey, Sterling, Suso, Robinson, McLauglan. Adorjan.

In principle I like it, but it relies heavily on youth or players you hate when gerrard and aqua get injured.

CM we should be ok, but I'm talking the inside forwards /wingers. We're not jam packed with them. 1 decent backup as well as 1 starter and id be content

So if we buy Ramirez, a backup striker and sign let's say Hoilett. You'd be happy?

I think we will be keeping either Aqua or Cole.. So this ain't happening..

Wouldn't surprise me if its Aqua... Cole needs to be sold imho..

He may well need to be sold however there isn't exactly a queue forming to buy him and match his current wages.

Yeah i wouldn't be too pleased with this one.

I mean why waste around 10mil on an average 30 year old player?

Especially as we've shown we're capable of investing twice that for an even younger, shitter player.

The Mirror claim we're preparing a bid of £7.5m. I'm very impressed with Rodgers so far, so really hope this isn't true.

Mr Rodgers knows his crowd.

Sign CLINT and then shortly afterwards announce the signing of any other fucking player in the world and know 100% that our fans will be very excited.

Clint Dempsey can suck the fat one.

Put it this way, if we're looking to be a footballing side though, would you rather have Suarez, Borini and Dempsey as our options, or Suarez and Carroll. That said, I wouldn't pay £10m and it's already been dismissed as bollocks hasn't it?

Providing we buy the quality required out side and attacking mid, I'd take those two as additions to our attacking power, at the right price. I think It'll be Borini though.

This must be the exciting signing we have been promised

Although im not a massive Dempsey fan, and I wouldnt find it in any way inspiring or progressive to sign him, I would say its a sensible and safe signing.
He is nearing the end of his contract so would be cheap(ish). He would sell the fuck out of our 'Warrior' shirts in the USofA. He can play in a variety of positions. He has guts and heart. He knows where the goal is. He will sit on the bench of needs be. He would limit Downings game time. Hes a Texan, Texans are fucking rock hard and boss. Hes better than most of our players and we dont have billions to correct that. He's 29 so we would get 3 good years out of him.
There are lots of plusses. I wouldnt be against it at all. As long as its ALONGSIDE some top creative talent. A player who will cost less than 10m and can play Left Mid, Left Wing, CM and CF and do them all well is a decent signing in my book.

I was told to expect double figures, but no doubt that will be the max if we win the EPL, CL and he plays every minute of every game. NO doubt Fulham will quote this figure and we'll quote the initial fee...

I quite like Dempsey but I'd be upset if we spend the same amount that we had earmarked for Sigurrdson and then put Dempsey on a higher wage than we offered Sig.
