So what kinda team we expecting? Mane on the bench? Or too soon for that?

Managed to secure a free ticket from work, so i'll be there.

Mignolet

TAA
VD
Matip
Robbo
Fabs
Wijnaldum
Henderson
Ox
Salah/Firmino
Origi

I thought Mane doesn't get back til Monday, so getting him on the bench would be a stretch.

I predict Gomez will partner Virgil and the front three will be Salah, Bobby & Div

I'm going for:

Allison
TAA
Virgil
Matip
Robbo
Fabs
Wijnaldum
Henderson
Salah
Firmino
Origi

We struggle to beat city domestically when we have everyone fit and firing so I'm not expecting a result from this.

This highlights our issue. If not Mane then who wide left ? Is Origi really the answer ? I see him as a backup for Firmino even though I know he's been used wide before. We really are missing a backup for Mane/Salah.

Save the front 3 for Norwich. Let’s see if the back ups can step up. I would be tempted to play frim as he knits the team together though would like to see Brewster have game time against top class opposition

I think we'll see:

------------Alisson-------------
TAA---Matip--VVD---Robbo
-------------Fabs----------------
-------Hendo----Gini----------
Salah------Origi-------Ox----

Really get the feeling that Ox will start, and that it won't be in midfield. Also get the impression Salah is considered starting fit but Bobby not yet. Likely priority subs Bobby, Keita, Shaq, Gomez.

My preference would be for Fabs, Gini & Ox to be the midfield trio with Wilson on the flank.

100% agree, I don't think we have any wing forward options from the bench. I presume Klopp thinks he could use Origi/Ox/Shaq out there. And Origi and Brewster in the number 9. It shows how bad it is for options, he used bloody Wijnaldum out there preseason as we have nothing.

Tbf Wijnaldum isn't exactly a stranger to that position.

This game is giving me a good incentive to cycle quickly on Sunday. I'm doing the Ride 100 so need to finish and then cycle home before 3pm. Should be fine, hopefully with enough time to soak the legs in a bath.

Ox loves playing City too - couple of belters against them in the past. I wonder whether that will come into it here, although it only really works if we put him in the middle rather than out wide.

Laporte allegedly injured. Fernandino not in the squad. Pep complaining about the heat this weekend.

Wijnaldum isn’t a bad option to play in the front 3 - he’s played over 40 games at either right or left wing in his career. Klopp just needs to make him as angry as he was before the Barcelona game 🙂

Overall, I suspect this game is a bit too early for Firmino to start - Klopp said he was “done” after 30 minutes against Lyon, it will surely take more than 5 days to stretch it to 60+. So Salah will be the only one from the regular front 3 to start, Origi will surely be the other, and then it will be between Brewster, Ox, Wijnaldum, Shaqiri and Wilson for the remaining spot. Gini would be a solid choice – he was great against Sporting at LW, but I would be much more excited if Klopp rewarded Brewster for all his pre-season hard work with a start. This could be a huge boost to his confidence and development him and it's better take a risk in this game than when the Premier League season starts.

I'm off to Wemberley in the morning with a party of 5 family members including myself.

We are going in a football special train that goes from Liverpool South Parkway direct to Wembley Central (which is supposed to be closed, but not to us).

Should be an enjoyable trip - no pressure as the result doesn't matter all that much.

Yeah don't care about the result as long as it's not an embarrassing defeat and the players look like they're actually trying .

It's essentially just a great opportunity for some competitivity before next Friday with the added bonus of silverware (for some)

Thats awesome, have a great day mate.

A part of me wants us to get smashed so it might force us to dip into the transfer market...Wishful thinking I know
