He couldn't be blamed for the Charity Shield own goal. The Newcastle game with the Cole hat trick was far more suspicious.
As I said earlier - I seriously doubt he let those Cole goals in. They were all great goals (annoyingly). Whether or not he accepted bribes is another matter. I loved Brucie so would hope not but wouldn't be surprised.

On a separate note, did anyone else hear his very emotional interview on TalkSport last year about what went on at Hillsborough?

Niall, tell him the greatest save I ever saw him make was when he kept out a near-o.g.from Jocky in one of the Merseyside Cup Finals.
I think Jocky just hoofed it across the edge of our penalty area and Graeme Sharp headed it towards the goal. Brucie, from way off his line for the backpass, sprinted back and acrobatically pushed it over.

The 3-3 draw with ManU was the one when he was supposedly taking a bung, but some of his saves in the 2nd half when we were losing 3-2 kept us in the game and no-one will ever persuade me that he threw that game.

Have to say the Newcastle 3-0 was much closer to the mark, well dodgy that. He let one go past him at snail's pace without moving and as I watched it I thought what the fuck?

If you want to check out a bent keeper now, then IMO look no further than Vito Mannone. That last minute equaliser against Man City end of last season was ridiculous, the cunt let a harmless mishit shot slip through his hands then turned round to find he could still save it so he pulled his arms away until the ball crept over the line.

And there's no fucking way the air shot that let Sanchez score in injury time this season was a mistake. IMO

There must be nothing more embarrassing for a keeper than everyone saying you must be taking a bung, when you know yourself that you tried but you're just shit.

Brucie wasn't shit. He was crackers, but he wasn't shit. Some of his saves and mistakes alike were unbelievable.

I'll rephrase:
There must be nothing more embarrassing for a keeper than everyone saying you must be taking a bung, when you know yourself that you tried but your best effort made it look like you intentionally didn't try.

I would've thought Bruce would be the last player you'd want to make cheating look convincing or to keep his mouth shut later. Chaotic, a bit oafish, he seemed everything you wouldn't want in a conspirator.

I doubt he was mixed up in fraud, he was just a decent keeper who occasionally made a monumental mistake.

Brucie was very good at leaving his goal line to nip opposition attacks in the bud. When a keeper habitually does that, he is going to fail every so often in which case it looks ridiculous.

He didn't even try to get to the ball(s) for that andy cole hattrick the fucker. No chance.

1994. Segers was in goal for Wimbledon for the final game of the season against Everton. Everton had to win to stay up. Wimbledon were coasting at 2-0. Segers then let in three goals, the third one coming to him so slowly he almost had to pull his hand away to ensure it went past. With John Fashanu the big man at the club, I think he was at the heart of the ruse, because the whole team seemed to throw that game away.

Graham Stuart's bobbling winner? Yeah, a bit dodgy perhaps but he hit it ok and from memory the pitch was completely shit too so could have contributed to it. Barry Horne scored the 2nd goal that day, or maybe the 1st, and from memory it was a belter.

I'll try and youtube it.
