Brazil v Argentina

I think people are more inclined to believe it because it is the tweet of a private conversation he has with a fellow professional rather than a statement to the media.
That said I wouldn't be surprised if his head is turned by Barca/Real etc

A private conversation that somehow found its way public... I'll believe it when I see it. All we can do is make sure we win stuff while he's here, and make sure we have options if/when he does leave.

His former youth coach said the same thing when interviewed the other day.

We need to double his salary already. 80k a week is nothing. He should be our highest paid player.

I think you're missing the point.

Nah, I get your honesty remark but the point is, so far there isnt much to worry about re his comments and signals from him and his camp.

If Barca make an official bid we'll find out if its true or not. But given these comments I'm not really worried at this point.

After Torres - I find that I don't get attached to any player now, no matter how good they are. I want his value to go up and up so that when the time comes and he does decide to leave - the money will ease the pain. But looking at this situation in a different light - Coutinho knows he has a good situation here at LFC - he is first choice, and has improved greatly under Klopp and realizes what he is doing. If he goes to the other big clubs (barca/real) there will be doubts if he starts games and indeed if he can fit in to that league (we know he could) because he has experienced a big club at Inter early on.

Anyway - if players leave now - then with Klopp we kinda have a good chance of bringing in players who will have the same level of ability if not experience to begin with.

But I also don't want Liverpool FC to be the feeder club for Barca/Real - that kind of shit has to stop at some point. We are a big club in our own right with a rich history - don't give a fuck what other people think because we have not won the league - but it is not too long ago since we have been in threeEuropean Competition Finals and come second in the league at least twice, and been in a number of domestic cup finals. Despite Barca being a big club it was not until fucking 1992 that they won their first European Cup - it is only in the last decade or so that they have been winning the CL on a regular basis. As for that other big c*nt of a club in Spain - I have nothing but contempt for it as I believe it is a state sponsored organisation, that needs to be investigated.

Lads, of course he's gone if he keeps up this form. If you were playing in France for Avignon FC and the Pool came calling you'd be out the door in a flash.

It's just a matter of this summer, or next.

So we're Avignon FC and Barca are Pool? Dont think its that big a difference...

Regardless, he's under contract for 4 more years. Its up to Klopp.
He'll sign a new improved contract during the second part of the season I reckon.

No doubt with a release clause which will be an unsubstantial amount

Yup this is the important bit. We've been shafted by the spanish clubs for so many years, even Suarez was sold on the cheap if you ask me. I guess it is too much to hope a decent release figure is put in this time, especially as he has masses of time left on his current deal.

has there ever been a high-value player that's moved from the prem to whichever league and not been at worst 'a good signing'?

it would certainly appear as though the premier league is a safe bet for Europe's top clubs , so an additional premium makes sense, kinda
