Borini

He is a decent enough player, just doesn't seem to have many goals in him.

Maybe he just needs time to adjust, cant expect every signing to start like luis.

Not expecting him to start like Suarez did but at the same time you'd like to see more from a £11m signing.

Borini's a young lad and it's early days but from what i've seen he's pretty average.

Hit and miss first touch, awareness is poor(runs into defenders regularly), loses the ball too much and doesn't appear to have a cool head in front of goal.

Odd that you miss the part about him making excellent runs (the first goal was him pulling two defenders away from the area where shelvey landed up - he did that against young boys too).

This is a kid who scored more goals per minute than anyone in Italy bar Di Natale and Zlatan. He can score, he can play.

He also passes the ball rather well.

He was a bit cack tonight though

wasn't at his best ... probably a mixture of trying too hard (he's desperate for goals) & not being 100% over that injury against the Mancs. I think he'll come good (15 goal a season player) ...

He's a striker who doesn't score goals and doesn't even look like he can. Just an opinion.

You've just highlighted one of the main problems - he's a striker who's played on the wing ... I think he's put himself in excellent positions to score goals. He's pressing - it's rather obvious. They will come (hopefully).

He seems a really poor player to me.
Id be surprised if he turns out great. He makes poor choices a lot.

He's got talent and is a natural goalscorer. He's been very highly regarded in every club he's been in so I hope we give him time. Easy to forget he's just a kid. Needs a goal to get going.

Given the amount of Premiership clubs Downing has played at, he's been highly regarded by lots of people as well. But I do hope he comes good.

Is that your description of average?? What the hell does a poor guy look like then??😉

Is this the kid who waved his right foot at the ball and it hit his left? That does take some talent.

As others have said, he's pretty average. No more, no less. He had a bright start, grabbed a goal, made us all sit up and take notice, but he's done fuck all since that. Yes, he can get himself into to good positions, but people aren't noticing that he makes just as many bad decisions. Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing him off by any means, and it's still early days yet. I'm hoping at 21(?) he's still learning and will improve on his awareness. If he does, I'm sure the goals will come.

He's intelligent and makes great runs, he's just trying a little too hard at the moment, it will all come with time.

He looks a clever player but its clear hes just not firing at the moment, a spell out of the spotlight would do him good, maybe a few 20 minute runs at the end of the game where his clever movement might do well against tired legs until such time as he regains his sharpness

dont think he will ever be a 20 goal a season striker but he could easily chip in 12 or so
