It's not quite working out in these early stages, is it?

I think Assman or Suso should be starting in his place.

He needs some time on the bench.

Yep, pretty much, he badly needs his first league goal. Makes superb runs and what not, he's just showing right now what the difference between a confident and not confident striker looks like.

He looks like a number 9 to me, so you can see why he's struggling out right and out left.

He takes up good positions, and he makes great runs, and he looks like he'll score goals. Give him time.

Agreed, he should be through the middle, his runs off the ball and his overall movement is excellent, but his all round game isn't good enough to see him play effectively outwide. I thought he linked up well a few times yesterday, but anyway. I can see why there would be concerns, but he's young and playing in the wrong position, IMO.

Borini will start to click when we start to click I reckon, a game on the bench will do him no harm though.

He needs to have a run in the centre, he creates space well by running into the right areas at the right time & knows whee to be to score, it's just not clicking yet.

I have hope, but Rodgers needs to persist with him in the centre, whether the lack of goals & points make that possible is another matter.

To be fair though, Suarez was absolutely outstanding in the centre yesterday.

I don't know if he was instructed to though, but Borini kept pulling inside and Suarez dropped deep to play in behind a fair bit (and played some outstanding balls through as a result).

Yeah, I think suarez in that role is a lot more effective, but it means you need another player or two to be more creative upfront.

Reminds me of a slightly faster Dirk (without the goals), I think he will come good.

He was the duffer in the front line yesterday, most good moves broke down with him and he seemed to be on a different wavelength to everyone else.

Not convinced he is any better than what Dempsey would have been

His movement is superb. At 21, he's going to take a bit of time to adjust, and I think he's doing that.

I said after 1 game I thought he should play centrally and Suarez should play wide left and Sterling wide right and haven't seen anything to change my mind.

His first touch is suspect, he can't beat a man, never crosses and likes to drift all over the place. His movement off the ball is excellant in terms of his timing of his runs and the purpose of them. He doesn't just run screaming for the ball for the sake of it, he does it to take defenders away and create space. No better example can be seen for Shelvey's goal the other night.

Suarez on the other hand can do all things he can't so the swap should be almost automatic at this stage.

Yeah, we got a Dirk when we needed a Fletcher.

Fletcher 12M, bargain Borini 10M. Those laughs seem to have dried up.

I think he looks a decent player, no more no less. He was central when he took that through-ball from Suarez and his first touch took it out to the corner flag. Looks a bit panicky to me. Am sure he'll have some good days though.

Whenever I've seen him interviewed I've been really hugely impressed. He seems bright, humble and eager to improve. On the pitch, he looks a clever player, with good awareness and good runs. If he can start scoring he'll look a gem.

I've got few worries about Borini. He's a young, talented player who will take a bit of time to settle.

If we had replaced Carroll effectively then there would be few complaints about Borini.

That first touch was rotten luck, TBF.

He will be OK, the main part of the issue is he has been dropped in at the deep end because of incompetence in the transfer window, and has too much of a burden of responsibility for a young lad at a new club.

They all need a few less frantic games than what we have had recently.

Pah, that Fletcher's average. He scores loads of goals but they're all average goals.

He's Scottish, used to play in the Scottish Leagues, and played for Wolves so he can't be any good at football.

Borini's a young lad and it's early days but from what i've seen he's pretty average.

Hit and miss first touch, awareness is poor(runs into defenders regularly), loses the ball too much and doesn't appear to have a cool head in front of goal.

He is a decent enough player, just doesn't seem to have many goals in him.

Maybe he just needs time to adjust, cant expect every signing to start like luis.
