Anyone got a Times subscription ?
Yes. I'll see what gives and get back here if I find anything.

Haha you wouldn't need a Times subscription, what makes people think the Times could report something and it wouldn't be splashed acros the World of Sport 2 minutes later?

Roy Hodgson has apologised to Liverpool fans for questioning their support, but his contrition has come too late to safeguard his future as manager after the club’s owner, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), determined that he is not the man to take the club forward.

Though Hodgson is only six months into the three-year contract he signed last summer, he will be ousted as soon as a high-calibre replacement can be identified and recruited.

The 63-year-old has made it clear that he will not tender his resignation despite presiding over Liverpool’s worst start to a season for 57 years and his relationship with the club’s supporters breaking down, so FSG will effectively take the decision out of his hands by actively targeting his successor.

Should the right man become available Hodgson’s departure will be confirmed before the end of the season, although FSG will continue to bide its time in a bid to ensure that the problems facing the club are not exacerbated by any short-term decisions, as was the case last summer after the removal of Rafael Benítez.

Hodgson was in damage-limitation mode yesterday, apologising to supporters for his assertion that they had failed to back him. But his remorse appeared to cut little ice, with an online petition calling for his immediate dismissal attracting more than 11,000 signatories and demanding “a manager of greater qualityâ€.

Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday was a setback too far for both fans and owners in a season in which embarrassing results have become a regular occurrence.

Hodgson attempted to build bridges before today’s home match against Bolton Wanderers. “It is a cliché but we do need time, patience and support, and the support from our fans at this club is of vital importance because that is what has made the club great through the years,†he said yesterday.

“We need that support and we need them [the supporters] to get behind us because things aren’t ging well.â€

Oh dear. If that's true - and Barrett doesn't quote a source - it looks like a leak designed to try and force Roy out of his own accord, which it won't, because that would cost him millions.

Dalglish, who was not present at Wednesday night’s game against Wolves, added: "It is about Liverpool Football Club right now – not about any individual person.

"If everybody does their job properly; if everybody sticks together; if the players excite the fans and the fans support the players and everyone is led in one direction, then we should get the result today.

"But without everybody being on the same page, it will make it a bit more difficult."

Very sensible... after the game he is open for discussions.

If certain players are played out of positon today aswell, I don't actually think I can stomach watching the match.

We just got beat by a team bang out of form, managed by a dour yorkshireman and who are propping up the table. Why would you expect any different result against a team that are organised and motivated by a decent manager and getting decent results?

Sadly enough our well respected and competence manager have sentral times admitted that he dont know the best position of i.e. Meireles, cole or gerrard as well as he dont know if torres is better as a lone striker or not... so dont get your hopes up.

Because that in itself may supply some of the motivation for our lot that Roy is incapable of providing. Witness the football lessson we gave the Chavs.

I actually think we'll win this, albeit not by a distance, and for the first time in my life I'm not sure whether I want us to.

I think we'll win. When we played Bolton away no one gave us a hope in hell. I think a response is paramount, anything else comes second.

Chelsea was in meltdown, we met them at exactly the right time, infact it was only this week they ended their terrible run and actually won a fucking game.

Oh God Mark I hope you are right.

But our 2 'bankers' Newcastle and Wolves resulted in 0 points, and Bolton will be all out for revenge after becoming the only team we have beaten away all season.

They still had more than enough quality out there to stuff us all ends up, given the way we ourselves are playing at the moment. The point is that playing them got our team energised.

Roy will go whatever the result so we should all get behind the team and show support to the players .

True. But Bolton are not Chelsea. It wouldn't be a shock if we lost to them, but it would still be a big scalp for them. I bet they'll be more motivated and better organised than us. The only way we'll win it is through our greater individual quality - ie Gerrard or Torres (or Magic or Ming) scoring a wondergoal or two.

(that was in reply to JJ btw)

Bolton have a few first teamers out.
If we lose, he really needs shooting.
I had the same thought before we played Wolves too, who had a lengthy injury list. Hope lighting doesn't strike twice. 🙁

It already did G&H and Roy, between them they are trying to kill us off.

I can't believe its 2011 and we are playing Bolton at home, and NONE of us is certain or even confident of a win.

What have we become?
