If he was sacked now, they'd bring Kenny in for the rest of the season - I'm sure of that.

I'm really torn. I'd much rather we started playing good football and winning games again, but it's equally obvious that any victory would just paper over the gaping chasms in our club. Hodgson has to go, and if defeat to Bolton is what it takes for that to happen, I'd accept that.

Obviously the worst-case scenario is we lose and he keeps his job. I think relegation would be a genuine fear if that happened.

Fucking hell posts like that a couple of months ago would have had all the dickheads on the site saying you are not a fan because you want the team to lose.

I know because people was slagging me off and I never even said I wanted us to loose!

To be fair, there was no way two months ago that posts like that were warranted, and fwiw I still don't agree with the 'lose' mentality, I want the points to get us as far away from relegation as poss.

Hodgson will be gone no matter what happens so wanting us to lose, when we're 3 point off the relegation zone and with no guarantee that sacking him will pull us out the mire,is baffling.

But 2 months ago all I was doing was saying HodgePodge was a fucking disaster and should be sacked, and I had shitloads of abuse for it.

I never mentioned wishing us to lose a game once.

In fact the only game I have ever wanted us to lose was when Blackburn was at Anfield and a win would give Kenny the prem stopping united.

I even lost 1000 quid on it 😉

If it meant he was sacked immediately, I'd be willing to accept a defeat.

But what confidence would I have in the Yanks and the failed scout getting the right man in?

Hmmmmm. None?
[/quote]I think maybe you should think about not following football anymore. Im not sure how many things would have to happen that would give you confidence.

I have confidence in the yanks to put together a good plan for the long term. the evidence is there with their track record. however, what happens in the short term is a concern but I'm glad they aren't making rash decisions. everyone wants roy gone, yes, but I absolutely see why they are reluctent to get rid of roy now with a mere 5 months left before the season is over.

if they have drawn up a long term plan for a CEO, and a new manager and everything else then I can understand why they are reluctent to deviate from that plan.

another senario with regards to kenny given the reins in the short term;
say he comes in and does an awesome job, we finish in the top half of the table.
the yanks then get in a new guy, for argument sake my number 1 choice; flores

say flores comes in and whilst he is eastablishing his style of play, his tactics, his formation we struggle what then? will the kop then start signing the name of kenny again?
an interm manager is introducing unknown elelments into a long term plan.

let roy bumble along, take all the flack for an utter disaster of a season and then let the new manager come in with a clean slate, fresh ideas and no millstone around his neck while he implements the LONG TERM direction the club is going to go in.

personally speaking I would only get rid of roy/bring in an interim manager if the following happens;

a) the long term manager we have identifield becomes available right now

b) roy walks

c) we are plunged into a relagation battle

roy is rubbish but we should take the time with the imput of the new CEO to identify the LONG TERM manager, someone we are going to get behind even if we struggle at first because we really don't want to be in this position again, we don't want a revolving door of managers.

it's also worth noting that if it is true gerrard and carra wanted curbishley before rafa arrived, rafa gone because of one poor season and wanted roy fucking hodgson after rafa left then they should be ignored with regards to future appointment of the new long term manager, fantastic players though they may be.

Quite a rational post.

If losing guaranteed that Roy was gone and was left to be replaced by Dalglish then I would take it.

But as nobody will ever guarantee than I think I'll be cheering for a victory.

if being outplayed (AT HOME) by the team propping up the league, who had massed 1 point on their travels (the worst away record in four leagues) doesn't guarantee the manager the sack then I doubt losing to bolton will guarantee the manager is sacked. so if there is no guarantee the manager is sacked for losing a game why hope we lose that game?

I think the only reason he wasn't sacked after the Wolves game was because there was only a matter of days between that and the next game.

Hope you're right, although games are going to come very quickly over the next few weeks, which is slightly worrying, and even more reason to get Dalglish in.
