Haven't seen a thread on this yet, maybe because we all know how it's going to pan out.

Anyhoo, I guess we all know the team after who Roy rested midweek. Shame, would have loved to see Shelvey gotten another go.

Interesting bit, is that Henry is sick and won't be at Anfield. Werner will be there though, hopefully to sack Roy after the game.

Just read that Johnson is probably out of tomorrows game, and that Roy will use Carra as right back again. And I quote: "it would be wrong to put young Martin Kelly into the side, at the expence of Skrtel and Kyrigiakos, we need the experience". FUCK OFF ROY!

The choice between a young, pacey, more attacking minded player on right back at home vs a 33 year old centre back that is slow and rarely crosses the halfway line. Yeah, thats a no brainer that is.

I hate that old fart.

Maybe he is scared of Gamst...

Probably not a bad thing to have Kyrigiakos in the team to defend the inevitable bombardment of high balls into the box that we will no doubt have to content with.
I hate the negative attitude though.
Maybe it is naive but I wish that we would set out our stall to attack teams and let the opposition worry about us.
Under Roy, and Rafa to a lesser extent, it seems to be that our first priority is not to lose the match.

Carra offers fucking nothing from right back going forward.

Screaming at everyone to pass it to him. Receives it. Stops. And passes it to anyone who'll take it off him.

It pains me watching it.

Too often it is Pepe or one of the CDs.

Listening to Roy's comments after our midweek game, i'll be surprised if this isn't the team:

Pepe
Carra
The Greek
Skrtel
Konchesky
Maxi
Lucas
Meireles
Cole
Stevie
Torres

I agree Ryan, it pains me to see Carra at right back as it highlights his flaws in so many ways.

Hmmm Had we had better on these three places I would have been more confident.

Ultimately, I think most of us would rather see Kelly play instead of the Greek. We looked better in the first half against Napoli with Carra and Skrtel, in the second half we were less composed and generally all over the place. And regards Cole and Torres, the way they've been playing, the likes of Shelvey are unfortunate to miss out at their expense.

I'd pick:

.........................................REINA................................
KELLY................CARRA.........AGGER...........HESKY
.........................RAUL................POULSEN................
BABEL.......................GERRARD....................COLE
...........................TORRES....................................

Babel is only there because I'm not sure I'd like to see neither Maxi nor Jova in the starting line-up again this Season.

NB It would actually be a bit harsh on Skrtel to leave him out as I thought he played one of his best games this Season away to Napoli and he'd probably then should be in the mix on Kelly's behalf with Carra moving out wide.

It's a shame too, Carra has a decent cross on him, but it's just what Ryan and others said, no point to having a decent cross if you never cross the halfway line and pass it back to Reina when you get the ball anyway.

Jovanovic has got to be ahead of Babel. At least he's put some effort in.

I just don't think he's any good this Jova-bloke.

Neither is Babel but at least he's still young-ish and somewhere deep down we all know he can score a brace.

I agree with you. Somehow his head has been turned from promising to non-existent over his LFC career. Sad as it has been some of his most important development years.

I predict we will be bottom after todays results, and it will stay that way after this game. The way Roy has us playing is spineless and gutless, so I am completely expecting us to get nothing from this game.

I have never been so disheartened as a Liverpool fan, the last time that even came close was under Roy Evans reign.

As useless as Roy Evans was tactically, at least back then we played attractive football, something I am afraid that will never materialize under 'Safe pair of hands' Hodgson.

I hope the Kop sing their hearts out for him to be sacked come sunday...

Yeah pretty much shit. However we are talking Jovanovic and Max here... They are shit too unfortunately.

I want classy wingers. Good wingers with speeds and skills to take on players. With good crosses and tactical skills to know when they are to stay out wide and when to drift inside and leave the room for a fullback storming up the field... None of the above mentioned fits in however...

I expect Chelsea beat wolves by at least two goals. So we wont be bottom. Great isnt it?

maybe we felt guilty after birmingham offered 9 million for him. after all it's our moral duty to demonstrate to them and everyone else exactly what sort of player they're buying so that they have a chance to make a proper and fair valuation

I actually can't believe it either mate but it's mainly due to the complete lack of good alternatives. And he had one shot in the Everton game where he from almost a standing position fired it with force at Howard. One of our best efforts on the day really. Blimey we've been poor.

It's all looking very bleak but we know that he CAN shoot and he CAN run. For what it's worth I'd pick him ahead of Jova and Maxi.

Yeah they all are, Jova impressed me with his fight and counterattacking play the other day though. They're all much of a muchness, none are really wide players which I think is more than half the problem.

You are right he looked more industrious at least than Babel, I just don't hope we are going to rely on our counters at home against Blackburn. Babel's got a shot on him and that's more than I've seen from Jova.

Against a packed defense out of the two I'd still pick the rapper.

Still interesting?
