Danny Murphy must be a top shout, after another splendid season for Fulham

If he was 21, he'd be valued at 15m and everyone would be raving about him.

Now I was always very critical, and yet protective, about Spud when he was at Liverpool; he was so obviously technically gifted, a beautiful passer, a superb striker of the ball, and always trying to find the clever, goal-assisting pass.

But so immobile and ill-suited to playing wide.

But it really is great to see him bossing midfield for Fulham, with the whole team revolving around him

And he's 10 times the player Lucarse is

Nice one Spud

Yeah, if he'd had his brain and technique inside the body of Sissoko, we'd have one of the best players in Europe

Mikel Arteta ... Though he had his season cut short, when healthy - he's one of the better midfielders out there. Pity he plays for the shite.

Tim Cahill, Wilson Palacios are also in with a shout.

But fair enough with Danny Murphy, he has been key to how well Fulham have done, along with Hangelande.

Gareth Barry's the best player outside the top 4. Effective, experienced, tackles, assists, scores.

Spud fits the bill also but I think Barry edges him for all round ability.

Palacios is a good player, and obv I would take umpteen players out of the top 4 ahead of Spud (Young et al), but if Spud was 10 years younger, he would be the hottest property in the country, and would deffo end up at one of the Top 4 for massive money

How queer!

Barry scores less than 10 goals each season, and they are nearly all penalties. He is not renowned for goalscoring ability from play.
don't think he would score many should he join Liverpool.

I'm surprised Everton haven't tried their luck, Moyes is a big fan and good mates with Spud.

I didn't know that. Strange they didn't sign him when he left us then - he certainly put feelers out in the press.

Cant argue with any names mentioned above.

Modric started to show his real form in second half of the season and could be one of the best outside the big four next season I think

Murphy's a very good footballer, he always scored against United when I was growing up.

The decision was right to sell him but as you say, it's nice to see him doing well.

Last year Bullard was in with a shout too.

In no particular order I think these players could be part of a top four squad.

Barry, Arteta, Ireland, Robinho, Given, Palacios, Young, Idbonkawhore, Hangeland, Lescott

These threads *always* had Anelka as first choice.

How did he stay so long at Bolton?

Stephen Ireland, good shout Squiggs. Anyone biting on the Robbie Keane suggestion?
Keane's talented enough so despite what happened at Liverpool he deserves a mention, yeah.

Anelka is not outside the top four, you fucking divvy
And Keane is poo.

Double Divvy.

Goalie - Howard
Defender - Hangeland
Midfielder - Barry
Forward - Robinho

Obviously.

Typo: has/had.

Murphy is a good shout, I was a bit gutted when he left. Still, he was very immobile and gave the ball away to many times for my liking. At leat when he played central midfield.
Strange that you compare him with Lucas though, Murphy has 9 extra years of playing in the Premiership.
Best player outside the top 4;
Barry, Arteta, Hangeland, Modric or Robinho.

Murphy didn't play that well last season. But has gone great this season. Obviously not in the top 5 best players outside the top 4 though.
I'd say Arteta

He scored the penalty to keep them in the Premiership.

Some good shouts and I would add Defoe to everyones shortlists. I think hes a very good little striker.

Im suprised Johnson hasn't been mentioned since hes always linked with us.
