Benteke - BOOOOOO the puns

Everything seems to suggest it'll be another signing people make fun at us over but here's hoping for the best I guess.

Really? Havent talked to one fan yet who has done that. Most seem to rate him. Utd fans I've talked to dont want us to get him and think he'll improve us.
We overpaid but most of the people that think he'll be a failure seems to be our own fans.

Either that or he really doesn't know what she's talking about. Maybe he misheard the word Benteke and thought she said Medicaid. If you replay the clip his response is entirely appropriate to an open ended question about the future of Medicaid and obamacare in general. His look could also be one of great concentration as he tried to come up with something pithy to say about health insurance.

After being asked to rate a didgeridoo performance, that wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

Only liverpool fans could produce 2 pages of this shite about signing a player that has averaged 1 in 2 for his last 5 seasons, including the last 3 in the premier league. I'm not exactly sure what people want apart from Messi. Last season our main problem was we didn't score enough, so the club goes out to sign a proven 1 in 2 striker, which is like rocking horse shit, and everyone moans about it.

This assumes all "1 in 2 strikers" are the same, so any of them would be suitable, which is nonsense. Some of the criticism of Benteke individually has been a bit silly, but questions about whether he'll suit us are definitely not.

Sometimes there are too many questions and you have to show a little faith. It's not as if we've been overburdened with options and I don't think the status quo could be allowed to continue.

The fellas amply qualified to score goals given the chance, the real question is whether he can be supplied. It's a new team more or less so I'm quite excited to see how it develops.

I'm not sure how a 1 in 2 striker, for 3 seasons running in our league, could ever be a poor acquisition, not be suitable, or be wrong.
He scores goals, at a cracking rate, every season, even in a team that creates fuck all.

Who decides when "there are too many questions and you have to show a little faith"? If the signing is completed I'm sure most of us who aren't sure about this deal, for perfectly good reasons, will get behind Benteke. Until then the wisdom or otherwise of the deal is fair game, especially on a forum.

Well the last bit is wrong because when Lambert managed to complete his remodelling of Villa into a team that created fuck all, Benteke couldn't score.

You're still making the same assumption that all such strikers are the same, and it still makes no sense.

His 'worst' season at the villa out of the 3 he's been there, is the year before last, when he scored just better than 1 in 3. The rest of the time he's done 1 in 2. A player that scores at worst 1 in 3, and averages 1 in 2 in a team that creates fuck all under Lambert? Terrible, booooooo, don't sign him.

And that a player who is good in one team will be good in the next. Doesn't work out that way.

See Darren Bent. Not too shabby when he's had loads of space to run into playing for an average team but couldn't quite get it together at Spurs when he was just another player.

That's what Chelsea said about Torres.

So if he scores the winner at Arsenal can we expect a headline like :

Bentekes It Up The Arsenal

I did. Experience tells me that sometimes you can't get acceptable answers to all worries, especially about something as variable as a footballers fit into a new team. This player (if he signs) won't be fitting into last seasons team though, he'll be part of a much changed outfit which is why I said I'm excited to see how it develops.

There are always perfectly good reasons not to do something.
