Benteke - BOOOOOO the puns

Sounds like you want it to sound racist or something.
3. They're both physically powerful
4. They're both very strong at winning headers.
4. They're both reasonably quick, but not lightning fast.
5. They hold the ball up well.
6. They have the same hair style.
7. They were both used as target men before join him LFC.

Benteke is way more prolific. But there are similarities without turning it into a race thing.
I hear you I was more going against the comparison because I think Benteke is a much better player.

Heskey wasn't. It was GH who turned him into one to be Owen's hod-carrier.

Its an awful comparison. Heskey was a 1 goal in 5 or 1 goal in 6 games striker throughout his career.
With 14 in 36 his best ever tally.
Benteke is on another planet when it comes to scoring goals.

They're both black, strong, pacey, good in the air and a presence upfront but Heskey had the most fragile mentality ever. I havent seen that in Benteke. He looks a completely different character.
Ability wise aswell its Benteke by miles for me.

Carroll, Heskey etc. Awful really. Lazy and awful comparisons.

Bentelli this could be.

That video clip is a bit odd.. it is similar to last season.. Denial with Balotelli...

We will not be signing Mario Balotelli.... Then we go and sign him..

Is Benteke the clubs signing rather than Rodgers ?..

No, this is supposed to be Rodgers top striking target. Its not similsr to Balotelli either imho.

Odd that he denies any knowledge of it, in that way.. Why just not come out and say I prefer not to talk about it.. He is not a Liverpool Player..

Paul Lambert was just on the telly, saying he'd chatted yesterday to Benteke about moving to Liverpool and he said the player was looking forward to it - no problems.

My interpretation of the interview was that he'd told them not to ask about Benteke but her producer made her do it anyway. So he was mad and the crazy look he was giving her was his way of saying 'you mess with the bullshitter, you get the horns'.

Either that or he really doesn't know what she's talking about. Maybe he misheard the word Benteke and thought she said Medicaid. If you replay the clip his response is entirely appropriate to an open ended question about the future of Medicaid and obamacare in general. His look could also be one of great concentration as he tried to come up with something pithy to say about health insurance.

Paul Lambert thinks Liverpool's move for Christian Benteke will prove money well spent

Paul Lambert thinks Christian Benteke will be prolific for Liverpool
Former Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert thinks Christian Benteke will be a “terrific signing” for Liverpool.

Lambert was the man who brought the Belgian international forward to the Premier League for £7m from Genk on autumn deadline day 2012.

And that has proved to be a shrewd piece of business because Benteke has become one of the most feared strikers in the top flight, and is now poised to complete a £32.5m move to Liverpool.

And Lambert, who was sacked by Villa after a poor run of results in February, is confident that he will prove a fine acquisition for the Reds.

“I think he is going to do great,” said Lambert.

“Christian phoned me yesterday and I had a good chat with him. I am delighted for him, he has got a move to a really big, big club.

“I hear reports that he can only score from cross balls. Well, Christian Benteke will score for Liverpool.

“The chances they create, he will score and, as Christian said yesterday, he is very good with his feet. I knew that anyway from signing him and I think he will be a terrific signing.”

It has been suggested in some quarters that Benteke will not fit in well with Liverpool’s style of play but Lambert is having none of it.

“He will score all types of goals,” he said. “If you look at the way he plays, especially his first year at Aston Villa, where he was a phenomenon.

“He was third behind (Cristiano) Ronaldo and (Lionel) Messi in goalscoring ratio.

“I think he is one of the best No 9's I have seen in a long time.”

Asked what he said to Benteke on the phone, Lambert added: “I just said to go and enjoy it.

“That he will love the club and the supporters and I think he will get loads of chances.”

Villa lost another key man when Fabian Delph opted to leave for Manchester City, having initially turned down the move.

Delph has been criticised in some quarters for his decision but Lambert said: “Fabian could have left for nothing at the end of the season but he signed a new contract in January and got them eight millon.

“I think he thought, ‘wait a minute, I have got an opportunity to play Champions League’. You owe it to yourself to try and play at that level.

“But I think he has done great by Aston Villa

Everything seems to suggest it'll be another signing people make fun at us over but here's hoping for the best I guess.

There's absolutely no justification for him claiming not to know anything about it. He can just- politely - say he doesn't discuss transfers, or he can't discuss transfers, or just say 'no comment'. The way he did it was just unpleasant and barking.

That's because he's a twat.
