Have a read of this:

Los Angeles Galaxy give the green light for David Beckham to play in former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville's testimonial on Tuesday.

The Major League Soccer side's technical director Bruce Arena said he had personally made the decision to let former England star Beckham return to Old Trafford to play in the match between a United selection and Juventus, a repeat of the 1999 Champions League semi-final.

The Galaxy will allow Beckham to miss an MLS match against Houston Dynamo on Wednesday before returning in time for a May 28 match against New England Revolution.

Beckham and Neville were, along with current United veterans Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs, members of United's celebrated 'Class of 92', a youth side that produced players who would later appear in the trophy-winning senior teams put together by manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Former England skipper Beckham has not pulled on a United shirt since leaving the club for Real Madrid in 2003.

The 'Class of 92' swiftly matured to win six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the 1999 Champions League, which capped a treble-winning season.

Neville's brother Phil, who joined Everton in 2005, will also be back at Old Trafford for the Juve encounter, when Gary Neville, 36, will end his 18-year United career.

He played his final senior game at West Brom in January.

In total Neville, who made his United debut as a 17-year-old against Torpedo Moscow, made 602 appearances for the club he has supported all his life, won eight Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups and the 1999 Champions League.

In addition, the defender won 85 England caps.

Firstly:
What a fucking whore. He asked to miss a league match for the team he is contractually obliged to play for, for which he is paid billions, to fly to the other side of the world to play in a fucking exhibition match? Jesus H Christ, he has no shame.

And secondly:
His team fucking allowed that? What a shambles. I'd have laughed in his face. Beckham and his sojourn in the US is a massive fucking joke.

Pitiful.

I agree that his career in the US is pretty laughable really but for the sake of argument how would people feel if, say, Robbie Fowler asked to miss a league game for his club in order to come back and play in Carra's testimonial?

I suspect it is an indication of the club needing Beckham more than Beckham needing the club

Yes the MLS is coming on leaps and bounds, but these "designated players" really are bigger than the club.

I'm convinced he only went there to appease his wife's desire to be in the celebrity crowd.

Every action he takes seems to indicate that he never wanted to be there.

He's got the possibility of ownership of one of the MLS franchises too in the future.

Re: Re: Beckham

Wonder if he'll buy sporting kansas our another laughably named club

Ba doom tish!

I dont get it. Why is he a twat?
Gary Neville is his best friend, they were best man at each others wedding. They grew up in the same youth team and were team mates for 20 years.
Why wouldnt he ask if he could play? And why (if it wasnt make or break) wouldnt his team let him?

Id think less of him if he wasnt there tbh.

I wouldn't want a Liverpool player going to his mates charity game, regardless of the importance of our next game. And the club shouldn't let it happen either.

It's like Stevie G saying "Hey John W lar, would you mind if I missed the first game of next season cos me mate Paul that sparked that lad for me in the pub in Southport has a stag do on in Dublin that weekend?"

It's not a stag do Ryan. I know a testimonial game isn't important on the grand scheme of things but i'm we'd view it differently if say Fowler skipped a game in Oz to go to Carraghers.

It is pathetic that Galaxy put up no opposition to him going. I agree with that. As someone said earlier, Beckham is obviously more important to them than they are to him. There is no way a premiership team would allow it to happen. I doubt they'd even have the balls to ask.

Dave, if Fowler did the samer thin I'd be equally disgusted.

Mind you, Fowler's not getting paid half a billion to play in Australia.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of this episode, Beckham is a bit of a twat. How that is under debate baffles me

Gary Neville is a massive cunt, Bruce too ... and Keane but I've never been arsed about Beckham.

Can't see anything wrong in him asking, nor going once permission was given. The bit that staggers me is the Yanks letting him go, especially when they wouldn't let him play for Spurs in the winter

apparantly they got beat 2-1, ha!

heard one of juve's goals was a jimmy corkhill tho

as in it was a corker

duno why im just tryna make up phrases really

Do you know what annoyed me, most of UTD's first team who will play Saturday started the game.

Can you imagine the fuss made if Capello said to Fergie, can your players play in a friendly on Tuesday before the Saturday Champions League Final

Cunts

I love Becks, how can anyone not?

He was the best England captain we'd had in years who genuinely loved playing for his country.

But then again, you do love Ramos too.

So...

🙂

I don't fancy Becks, Holle. I just think he was great for England, after he left Utd, I don't see how any England fan could not like him.

And you really can't get over the Ramos thing, huh?! Ha

I'm not an England fan so maybe I don't see him that way.

And for Ramos, I mean FFS. But I'll give it a try. You have to remove your avatar though. Thanks in advance.
