Not even sure what full Halmeister is. Realistic?

If people are taking me seriously when I say we're gonna get tonked by Huddersfield, then that's their issue. It was all part of the great jinx, which sadly hasn't worked.

If it's me saying we won't win anything (not a dig at the team) then I don't know what to say... it was just my prediction brought about by cool-headed logic.

I was convinced you were still on track and were going to predict a City loss in their last game.

I did think they'd drop points, against Spurs or possibly United. Think it's done now though.

We have two tough games as well, people take those for granted a bit.

I thought the same... particularly his rolling around after Milner pushed him out of touch.

Speaks to his desperation to win the CL after watching Real (Ronaldo) dominate for the three years.

That's when the Barca fans around me got really pissed ... Not sure why it took them so long to realize I was a Red, but a few of them just started at me when I said, "Didn't realize Neymar was back at Barca" ... and the crazy thing is that's NOT his game - he normally stays up all the time, unlike Busquets (who's great but fucking hell does he go down easier than Jenna jameson).

Messi has always been willing to do that shit if the game is going against them. It's just normally they don't want a break. This game they did. And messi and Suarez need it more than most.

Near the end of the first half, their front 3 had their hands on their knees waiting for the whistle ... they were gassed ... even more frustrating that we let them get the perfect result ... oh well, hopefully we can right it or learn the lessons to ensure we win more than just the league next year (see what I did here? ;-) )

Our team plays so well as a unit that I suspect most of us get overhyped by our players. We have very good forwards and a team that creates lots of chances and is a bastard to play against.

They had, even way past their best, a couple of the best forwards to ever play the game, decent enough CBs, and we lost 3-0.

It's a fucking punch in the gut, but it's not like we're not used to the abuse.

We still need to do work on the team though. I don't think we'll outperform or necessarily even match this season, with this set of players.

decent enough CBs

You reminded me what else I wanted to post. I've always been in the "put Pique on a different team, he'd be shite" but he's fucking quality. He wins everything in the air and he reads the game brilliantly ... yes he got schooled a few times, but what players don't against Mane and salah?

Would’ve loved to have seen us going toe to toe with our strongest line up. Klopp over thought it and it back fired.

Early goal on Wednesday and you never know.

If you change the team and lose, it doesn't mean it's because you changed the team nor does it mean you wouldn't have lost if you didn't change it.

You can be a great football player without acting like a cunt.
Suárez should have behaved differently last night, if he indeed lived us.
No need for him to try and provoke Robertson, VvD, Alisson etc. (I read that he tried to confront Robertson in the tunnel).
No need to run to the ref with the rest of the Barcelona players following every whistle.

I'm probably being naive, but that's what I expected from him. And I was let down.

Nah that was all part of trying to get a win for his team and whether it effected us or not he got what he wanted for his team.

When he did for us we loved it.

Man this is the first time in ages where a loss has felt so gutting. Refused to read any sports websites and just pretend it didn't happen until next week

I have been thinking about this game all through the day and even tonight - replaying the events that took place over and over in my head. Reading many comments on here, I can only confirm that I saw the same game as @Frogfish - coz some of this blaming Klopp stuff is too much for me. I would have played Gomez for sure in this game - just maybe Klopp has had the benefit of seeing Coutinho against TAA in training sessions from last year (just a thought).

But you know what really gets me my dearest SCM'ers ? - the fucking media having this massive fucking wank over Messi's role last night - what the fuck ? - even some of you are guilty of this, he had in effect ONE good moment which was the free kick, and it ain't like we have never seen those types of kicks go in goal before is it ?- the 2nd goal is something even our strikers may have been able to score last night (well maybe not).

I really really hate that team - they were shit scared of us last night, that;s why they were behaving like fuckings clowns and crazy thugs last night in that shithole stadium of thiers, fuck them. I really hope we scare the fucking shit out of them next Tuesday, that they start trembling, they looked so easy to break down. Our games against City have been tougher affairs than last night. Piece of shit Suarez little cunt mother fucker - I hope he gets sent off when the antics get too much for the referee, I tell you if we score within the first 10 minutes - they will totally collapse. We created too many clear cut chances and had too much possession in their final third last night - to not be able to score and Lord willing we will dominate them completely come next Tuesday. I don't think any of our lads including manager will want to exit this competition losing to them at home - NO WAY - some of you like Messi cock, so go ahead suck it while you can, he looked fucked by half time, and at the end of it, and no doubt he is worried that 3-0 is not enough as confirmed by his interview.

I'm going to sound petty, but I hate that this fawning over Messi has reduced a reasonably good team performance to a footnote. When it comes to supporting us, I'm not objective at all, so fuck Messi, fuck Suarez, fuck Barca.

I want us to trounce them so bad in the second leg that the enduring images from that encounter will be that bearded dwarf on sobbing and on his knees, before rising to to announce his immediate retirement from the game because of the trauma.

Unfortunately no matter the performance a result that reads 3-0 loss will always been seen in a negative light.

Yeah, this defeat really feels like a punch in the gut.

I think the players really let their shoulders droop after the second goal, and felt sorry for themselves for about 10 mins. Then the free-kick happened, and it was like - fuck it, we're not going to get anything from this season.

Klopp will really have to pick this team up in training.

I agree with those who are saying it wasnt all about Messi.

The brilliance of Messi meant it is 3-0 not 2-0 - thats all.

Any half decent striker who had Suarez's shot rebound to them would have scored the second goal.

I agree only Messi could have scored the free kick, but to say that the difference between the teams was Messi, is to downplay the job the lads did at actually containing him

Hey... in truth if you have more possession in the camp Nou than Barca.... despite missing a key striker... and missing 2 guilt edged chances... to point the finger and say we didn't deserve anything...

I dunno..

I was gutted on Thursday morning and yes it does feel as though we are already out of the CL but feeling sorry for ourselves after playing so well for so long is not gonna help. I don't know what the odds are but our only absolute guarantee of defeat is to accept it before it happens.

We need to get out heads right and make sure we beat Rafa's lads.

Then we need to put our chances away while making it as horrible a venue as we can midweek...

IF we do that then Maybe magical shit can happen, whether it be a sneaky Vardy Goal or a full-on rock n'roll blitzkrieg on Barca I'm not conceding anything yet... fuck that...

Feeling sorry for ourselves ain't gonna help whatever way we cut it...

Nifty... really fucking nifty... let's show em all.

The defeat is difficult to take because no one (our fans) had predicted a 3 nil white wash. We need to win the second leg to salvage some pride.

I dunno lads, Messi was a threat all game and my heart was in my mouth anytime he had the ball at his feet. He dragged our players towards him allowing space for others. His dribbling skills were excellent all game too. VVD had one eye on Messi and didn't track the Suarez run for the first goal. Matip followed Messi for the second goal allowing space for Suarez to get in for the second.

I also thought Salah was a constant threat for us. He skipped past players at ease and should have scored at the end.

Side note - did anyone notice how central Joe Gomez was at times in the first half? Was he told to slot it and keep it tight back there when the ball was on the other side of the pitch? I get we wanted to be compact and reduce the room for Suarez and co but we didn't have any midfielder covering the right flank. The first goal came because of that.

We need stevie g esque performance from someone in midfield if are to stand any chance.

Nah. We’ll create more chances for sure even without that.

What we need is for the people to whom those chances fall to to have their shooting boots on.

I just don't get the 'VvD didn't track Suarez's run' line at all. I mean look at the stills, Suarez wasnt moving forward.. and then he was at full pelt. No-one could have stayed with him, not even the world's fastest 60m sprinter.

VvD could hardly have positioned himself in front of him which meant Suarez was always going to get to the ball ahead of anyone. Let's just give credit, great ball from Alba and a sublime piece of skill from Suarez.

I honestly think that was the plan. Keep the ball going into areas that should have been easier to defend than central or our left, where Messi mainly operates. Other than the Dembele chance at the end of the match it worked well.

Yep. He's probably been slaughtered for it (I've avoided social media) but I think Klopp was right in that it was our best European away performance, which makes it all the more ridiculous that we lost by three fucking goals.

I'm not completely bereft of hope about this tie though, if, IF, we can get it 1-0 with half an hour to go then it's all to play for. The crowd will have a part to play, they have to be patient, I think a lot will expect us to come flying out at a hundred miles an hour, which is the last thing I think we will do.

We were solid and dared to take them on. We were extreme good at times in our passing. We got out of difficult situation by passing our way out and they could not win the ball back in good positions. We lacked the clinical part of Our game which we showed away at Allianz arena. So in that respect the Allianz game was maybe better, but the overall game was better at Nou Camp as we dared to press them high and pass the ball around. The other away games in europe have been quite grim so a higher Level than that was required.
