Think that's complete bollocks, we had chances, just didn't take them, that's got fuck all to do with the selection unless you think Firmino was definitely fit to play the full match, which I don't buy for a second.
Wouldn't mind, but Gomez was notoriously mistake plagued when fully fit at rightback. So wtf anyone would think it was a good decision playing him away at the Nou Camp, after months out, in his least successful position.

First goal was a mistake, second was a stroke of luck, third was brilliance. We missed three or four really good chances and outplayed them for much of the game. I don't think we did much wrong besides miss our chances (which is obviously the most important thing)

First came from the right because Gomez was out of position.
Second was because of Gomez - shouldn’t have started.

I think Klopp was trying to be too clever with his tactics and the Wijnaldum and Gomez selections didn't really work. Time after time the attack stalled when Gomez had the ball at his feet in an advanced position and the only thing i can remember Wijnaldum doing was dummying the ball for Milner to have a shot. I'm sure we'll have a go at Anfield but this is too much to claw back without an away goal.

Not sure why people are blaming Gomez. He had no cover in front on him. First goal was due to Alba not being closed down by a midfielder + an excellent run from Suarez. Second was a few unfortunate breaks that went their way. Third was a freak free kick. Im a huge fan of Trent but don't think he would have stopped any of the goals.
Had our chances - never took them, so this is the result, we accept and think about Newcastle. Players will be depressed after that because for the most part we were in control of that game. They really need to shake this shit off their head before the Newcastle game. Fucks sake.

I didn’t say we didn’t create but we looked well off it with too many stupid changes due to being too smart for your own good. Gini isn’t and never will be a false 9, the less said of Gomez the better they are the two biggest factors in tonights score.
I for one wasn't having a go at Gomez defensively as i think the first goal is Van Dijk and Matips responsibility, neither of them had Suarez marked and neither reacted when he made the run. My point about Gomez and the difference between him and Trent is how poor he is going forward. I think Alexander arnold would have caused them a lot more problems with the ball than Joe did.

To get through we will need the a night that would top any other European night. Just hit them hard and early. I could be classed as a happy clapper and I’d put our chances at 10% of getting through.

Why do people always look for a scapegoat? Its like people need to boil it down to one person or one reason. I would have played Trent and Firmino personally but that is not the reason we lost. Gini was very quiet in Bobby's roll and Wilson wasn't as savvy as Trent on the ball but the score line is 3-0 because they scored some of their chances and Messi is a freak. Milner, Mane and Salah should have scored for us. Relatively easy chances. Sadly they didn't score and it's very disappointing.
Totally agree. But we did create chances. We didnt take them. Some on here seem to be focussing on hypothetical chances we might have had if Trent played. Barca would have targeting Trent if he had played and plenty on here would be saying he needed a break.
Firmino being on the pitch wouldn't have made Mane, Milner and Salah take their chances. Especially not an unfit Firmino. We had enough chances to get something out of it, but didn't take them. That was the biggest issue tonight.
