Barca bid for Agger

20-25m for agger and you'd have to think about it . But do we have time to find a replacement ? Can the team cope with losing a number of senior players in one summer ?

And it would be a pity as i do get the feeling that he does genuinely care for the club . Although i'm probably wrong there and he'll be banished to train with luis next week in stanley park .

We'll have an u18 squad the way we're going right now.
DO NOT SELL.

And where's this fucking 25m figure coming from? Let's at least discuss the rumoured price, which is 17m. And LFC have already denied there's been such an offer.

If we got £25 million for Agger then I'd be flabbergasted. But delighted. If we were astute then I'm sure we could replace him and pocket £10 million in change.

Barca have just had a 35M bid for Luiz turned down by Chelsea.

Is this interest/bid in Agger really true?

Replace him with whom?

We're swimming in a pool of mediocrity, who the fuck would want to jump into to our fucking pool?

Some bland cunt that wants to win nothing for the next 5 years?

So Barca bought our midfielder then made him a defender , now they want to buy Chelsea's midfielder who used to be a defender and make him a defender.

Are people on drugs? "20-25M and I'd think about it"

HE'S NEARLY 29 AND IS MADE OUT OF FUCKING SOUP.

I'd charter a plane and fly him to Barcelona myself for that sort of ridiculous figure.

But he's just had one season without significant time missed - that means he's not injury prone anymore !

Just like how one good season made Skrtel world class

A season in which he was culpable for plenty of goals conceded.

He can shoot from long range though, so y'know every cloud I guess...

Nevermind that or the money, just sell everyone. That will make this season even better when we have to replace several players and dont know who to bring in.

Sounds like a fantastic idea.

When you have what is probably the most expensively assembled mid table squad in the Premiership ever and the level of wages being paid is holding you back from being able to spend what you'd like - why on earth would you keep one of the overpaid mainstays in that squad when you get good offers for them ?

Isn't madness doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results ?

Well Agger is part of the madness.

No wonder you find it difficult to fathom why the most successful club in the world over the past 10 years constantly comes knocking for Agger, seeing as you have never missed an opportunity to tell eveyone how average he is.

Whilst at the same time you have been championing the likes of Lucas and Skrtel.

It makes you look a little silly doesn't it?

Yes. Yes it does.

Does it ?

Their track record with signings is ropey at best

Without sounding like fucking Ross here, Agger is exactly the type of player we should be offloading right now. He’s just had his first full season injury-free which is quite remarkable, he’s approaching the twilight of his career, and we aren’t a side that need to hang onto expensive, older players because they can add that final gloss to a title-challenge. His value right now will NEVER ever be higher. It’ll dwindle from her on in. Meanwhile we’ll still be struggling around in 5th place with or without him.

Ferguson, Wenger and Levy know exactly when to get rid of these guys, despite mad fucking clamouring by their own supporters that they shouldn’t be selling.
Berbatov 30M – right at this peak
Keane 20M – right at this peak
Modric 20M – right at his peak
Overmars 25M – etc
Henry 14M –
Stam 15M
Kanchelskis, Ince, Hughes,

Agger isn’t fucking great. He’s had a career full of injuries. He’s approaching 29. And we could get 20-25M for him. It’s complete fucking madness to keep him.

They spent 15M on Alexander Song 12 months ago lad, calm down.

And if someone offered 25M for either Lucas or Skrtel, I'd snap their hands off.

But it's fucking pointless debating this with you, and the whole forum knows that.

Well it's pointless anyway because we said last night that we haven't even received a bid, so it's a load of bollocks anyway.

And I have my doubts about Barca bidding 25 mill.

In other circumstances I'd be inclined to agree with Ross and Ryan, that 25 mill is a fee you just have to seriously consider.

But, this pre season we've lost Pepe and Carra with Skrtel and Suarez on their way aswell.
I'd rather keep some of the spine intact then get the extra 10 mill for Agger.
Despite his age and previos injury problems he isnt part of the problem imho. I'd rather let him form a partnership with Papa ( if we get him ).

That means they're trying to get to the player & get him thinking about a move before they put a bid then.

Standard barca tactics.

I like agger. He makes some mistakes, he comes forward way more than I'd like, sure.

I love how dedicated to the club he appears to be & his attitude/commitment on the pitch is always exemplary.

That said he's hugely injury prone & is no spring chicken.

I'm torn on this. Kinda like a head vs heart choice.

I think with Skrtel almost certainly leaving & a new lb coming in it may be best to give him another season to see how he gets on with a new keeper & teammates at the back. If they do bid 25m though it's unlikely we'll be offered that next season.

I just don't know.

I can understand why we'd accept that kind of offer, like we did last Season too. I don't think we should sell all of our best players mind but that's a different argument.

That's not the point I was making though and you know that.
