Barca bid for Agger

We can get a younger, better centre half than Agger for £25m.
I am not sure we can so easily improve on Skrtel for £9m

Possibly, but we'll also be gambling with our best defender.
It's not a like for like replacement if we keep Skrtel.
I'd rather we use the money we get for Skrtel, add to it, and find the next Sami or whatever.

I don't think losing our, in your words, best defender, will impact much on our remote chance of breaking into the top four this season but it may do in a couple of seasons time if we don't replace him.

Right, but in that case I want his replacement in the club before he leaves.

Agger is one of the few remaining players that I actually like so I'd be sad to see him go but as has already been said, it doesn't look like we're going to be breaking into the top four based on our current transfer activity so perhaps we'd be better off looking ahead and cashing in on our major assets whilst we still can.

The only issue is that it's becoming harder and harder for us to recruit top talent. Our scouts have got a real job on their hands over the next couple years - we can't really afford too many mistakes otherwise we're out for good.

25m and I would say yes, but if we sell suarez too, what does it say about us? we can't sell both and talk about strenghening the team, instead it will be another transition year.

Suarez, Reina, Carragher & Agger gone out of the dressing room in one summer. Ooooof.
Personally I'd sell Agger out the door as he's never too far away from injury and IMO slightly overrated as a defender but I fear losing that many of our better players in one window would be too much.

One of the things im looking forward to next year is Daniel coldly forearm smashing Suarez in the face when we visit the emirates, then simply jogging back into the middle adjusting his shirt.

He cannot he allowed to leave the big tattoo hero.

Fond memories. I also love what he said about Torres afterwards:

‘I think it is unacceptable to play for one of Liverpool’s arch rivals,’ said Agger. ‘For a Dane it is about having respect for the club you play at. I’m proud to pull on my Liverpool jersey and will never go to another club in England.’

If Ayre can get 25M quid for someone who hits 29 this season and has a history of injuries I'll blow my wad.
