Aspas to valencia

[article=http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/exclusive-aspas-agent-responds-liverpool-january-exit-rumours-1432446?]Valencia and Betis are reportedly interesting in signing Iago Aspas on loan until the end of the season but his agent has ruled out an exit from Liverpool this January as the striker wants to stay at Anfield.

Liverpool paid £7m to Celta Vigo to acquire Aspas' services last summer but the Spaniard has struggled to make the impact expected and some European clubs are interesting in taking advantage of the situation.

However, Aspas's agent Jose Rodriguez Baster has revealed to International Business Times UK that the striker does not want to move in January, nor are Liverpool willing to let him go.

"Aspas wants to stay at Liverpool and Liverpool want to keep him. I have been in Liverpool recently and they have assured me that this is their intention.

"It is true that Aspas is not playing as much as we want but this is his first year at Liverpool. I would lie to you if I tell you that Aspas is happy about not playing but he wants to stay," Rodriguez Baster told IBTimes UK.

Reports in Spain claim that Betis and Valencia are keen on signing Aspas on loan and some suggest they have already contacted the player to discover what his plans are. When asked about that, Rodriguez Baster said:

"If Valencia or any other club are interesting in his signing they have to contact Liverpool. Always there are teams monitoring players but formal offers are a different thing. To close a deal it is needed that all the parties agree terms and here I am not thinking of a transfer because the player's intention is not to leave Liverpool."

With Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge in sublime form this season, Aspas has started just five Premier League games and his only goal came in the FA Cup third round against Oldham.

His agent claims that he wants to keep fighting for a place in the starting line-up, but if Liverpool sign a striker this January the situation may change.

"If Liverpool (were to) sign a striker or a midfielder during this transfer window and they told us a different thing we will consider other alternatives but today the intention is that Aspas stays at Liverpool.

"Liverpool paid €9m for Aspas last summer and they believe that this is a long term bet," he added.

Baster, who also represents Luis Alberto, told IBTimes UK that the Liverpool midfielder is also happy to stay at Anfield despite his lack of opportunities under Brendan Rodgers.[/article]

"Long term bet" 😵

We obviously missed out on a couple first choice targets for one reason or another but when you look at who we did bring in you have to say that so far it looks as though we got it badly wrong.

Seriously ? Badly Wrong ?!

Transfer fees depend on where you source them from.

Aspas - 7.2 to 7.9M - Was worth the gamble, I doubt we'll lose on him if we sell in the next year. Fail
Alberto - 6.8 to 7.0M - most people think that he will progress and become a good player. Jury's Out.
ILori - 7.0 to 7.2M - one for the future that everyone rates. Success
Toure - 0 - Our 2nd best CB (and good at RB too). Success
Sakho - 16.7 to 18M - he's going to be a fixture in our defence. Success
Mingolet - 9.0 to 9.3M - I think most people would say an improvement on Reina despite his recent weak hands. Success

And there are the loans of Moses and Cissokho (supposedly at 1M per). If it wasn't these two then it would be another two (who may or may not have been a success but these two looked to be worth a throw of the dice and bulk up our squad at least) and at 2M it was a gamble worth playing that didn't work out. Not really worthy of inclusion in the above but I'm sure someone will mention them, so here you go.

That's one way of looking at it. Another is as follows:

We failed to get any first choice attacking target.

We signed two young players for a lot of money who have gone from being on the brink of first team football to limbo / reserves. Experience tells us that doesn't look good from a ROI point of view unless something changes soon.

We signed one attacker who doesn't look like he will make much of an impact this year (so much so that teams want him on loan) and the other one we got on loan has been awful.

As has our other loanee.

Sakho, Toure and Mingolet have all made a positive impact to varying degrees as you said.

You can talk about intent and punts all you like but what we really have to judge is what has actually happened and so far when you take into account the number of players brought in and the money spent we have not seen enough improvement.

The improvement has largely come from existing players. Rodgers can get some credit for that, that's fine. I don't think we had a great summer on the evidence shown thus far though.

How can you judge someone who hasn't even played yet a success?

Toure isn't our 2nd best CB either

He hasn't played for OUR first team but everybody who has seen him play agrees he is a great prospect, in those terms he is worth the money and so a successful purchase.

For me our best CB pairing is Toure & Sakho, so yes our #2. YMMV.

It's a bit limp wristed saying we've gone over budget aswell, you said a couple of Summers back that we'd have X amount to spend, based on sales, income, expenditure etc, and we blew that theory out of the water. No one really knows how well fixed we are and how much we're under/over spending.
And the reason I was wrong was because I never expected that FSG would pump money in for transfers. But they put at least 30m in over the the first two years - and if they put more in last year we're edging very close to FFP breaches

I'll ignore your 2nd point as that's your judgement, cool

The 1st bit is complete bollocks though, who has seen him play a game for a 1st team? Not on youtube like

Loads of players have looked good for the reserves and turned out to do fuck all for us

It's a completely ridiculous argument

Danny Wilson was clearly rated enough for us to spend 5M on him. He ended up leaving on a free having played a handful of times in some random cup games.

Llori may well end up in the first team and go on to have a great career with us at which point we will say that the 6M we invested in him was very shrewd.

As things stand however he's playing in a not so competitive environment and not very often, which is far from ideal for someone that really needs to be playing at a higher level in order to improve.

As we've seen before, the longer that situation is allowed to continue, the less likely it is that the big payoff is just around the corner no matter how highly the player is supposedly thought of.

I'm sure they rate Alberto too.

I don't see how it can be judged a success for £7M until he plays for us.

Seems a pretty simple concept for you to get

No... we'd be edging close to having to circumvent the FFP rules by having FSG "sponsor" something rather than just put the money in.

As I said I'm not bothering to research and rewrite the fucked up post above because my internet connection/this site fucked up. So you'll have to forego my words of wisdom.

I don't think you had any. I really don't see how you can argue this case unless you're really dantes. Are you? Are you currently planning the demise of your coworkers?

Problem is.... He hasn't figured for the reserves yet.

The problem is, if people don't like someone, or if they don't want to put up with a deliberate WUM, they ignore them, it's a great feature of this site. However as Rosco is an admin there is no way to ignore him, and seems he's the biggest WUM on the site, he's also a complete dick to people at times, he needs to calm it down, or the ignore function needs to be turned on for admins, otherwise people will keep reacting like this. Trust me, it's exactly what I wanted to say when he labelled me a member of the Hitler Youth, which is apparently fine.

Exactly. I've tried to find a way to put the helmet on ignore, but I'm unable to.

We looked into putting admins on ignore a while back, I'm not sure that it's possible.

I understood the big man can be provocative, & had he just called him a dick I'd have probably let it go, but that sentence reads very nastily & there's less aggressive ways of dealing with it.

OK. Here's a less aggressive way of putting it. Rosco is a fornicating vagina.

No doubt in this situation, all I'm saying is there is blame on both sides, and it will happen again.

There was no going back with this nob end once he'd belittled me for being a wool during a thread where we were discussing me being critically injured at Hillsborough. He can fuck off. They can ban me if they like. I really couldn't give a shite.

At least he saves us from having to play Suarez in cup games. That is a valuable contribution in itself
