Any regrets, Aly?

Aly Cissokho has said he has no regrets over moving to Anfield, despite being questioned otherwise.
Liverpool loanee Aly Cissokho has had a mixed time since joining Liverpool, but says he has no regrets.
He was asked in a slightly tongue-in-cheek manner whether he regretted swapping the sunny climate of Spain for the usually miserable English weather in an interview with French newspaper L'Equipe.

The full-back replied: "No regrets, none! (You can) say that it is less a holiday destination but I came for the job. And Liverpool is a legendary club, historical.

"On match days, the city lives for it, much more than anywhere else I've played.
"You feel that football is the heart of every home. The stadium is always full. The songs, the atmosphere is
awesome. This is the Champions League every weekend."

That's a great way of putting it, and he had more to add:
"I had already played with Lyon at Anfield, but there it is totally different. To wear this red shirt during the "You'll Never Walk Alone" is an extraordinary thing to live! This song, it is known worldwide.
"Already as a kid, it had struck me. I watched the games and I thought it was beautiful. But I never imagined in being a player one day.

"The first time, I felt a lot of emotions. I thought about all those years when I was younger, these hours I put in to believe in my dreams. And I realise how lucky I am to be here."

But will Cissokho be around to play Champions League football for real next season?
That's a topic he did not address, simply stating that he was doing his utmost to help the Reds win every game and finish as high as possible.

"The first goal is to qualify for the Champions League. But we feel that something is happening. Fulham, we win at the last minute from the penalty spot. This may be the luck of the champion.

Ha... there's something about him I like, it's been a long time but I think he could be a new cult hero. I know he's been up and down and everyone thinks he shit.

I feel sorry for lads like him.

Then I remember how much they get paid and the feeling goes.

He's very likeable, unfortunately he's not so good.

Pretty much this. But there are others, cough cough 'Moses', who look like they don't give a shit most of the time. I really do love his passion for the club.

Love this bit :

Yeah I know, but that doesn't mean that they're all mercenaries. Some of them actually give a shit and understand the club. I'd take his attitude over countless overpaid, much more talented players.

he's decent enough at the defensive side of things but shocking with the ball at his feet . he seems a decent lad but i don't suspect he'll be here next season . Pity he's become a bit of a joke , even rodgers wasn't too positive when talking about him recently.

This. I do want my fullbacks to be able to defend, but that's not all I want them to be able to do, and unfortunately that's where it stops with Cissokho.

I like his attitude too, but I'd pick the player(s) more likely to help us win games. If we want to push on from where we are, I'm afraid we need better.

We do, but it's to see players that have a bit of integrity, regardless. For that alone he deserves to be cut some slack. Moses by contrast looks half arsed whenever he pulls on the shirt.

The most important part of that interview was his last comment that the players believe they can win the title

It amazes me sometime show we gift a position to dross like this. Yet we make the kids coming through the ranks work so hard just for that first game...

And I like him too

He's a funny one - wasn't he really highly regarded at Lyon.

I don't mind him - but he's not great, is he?

I don't follow. He makes other players create mistakes?

He gets caught of position so often that it pulls the LCB to him ... that creates the space that screwed us in numerous games where he started. He's a good guy, gives 100% every game but he just seems to have a very low footballing IQ.

Yeah he's poor but all our fullbacks bar Enrique do that. Did you see Flanno today?

I think you also have to give the Southampton players some credit as well. They're no mugs and Lallana was outstanding first half.

He was leaving far too much room behind him (Aly does that every game in my opinion), but he was afforded very little protection from Hendo (he normally gets it from Sterling). He's a solid player though, and I'm far more comfortable with him than Aly. Though if we can get a premier right back in the summer, Flanno will be on the bench (which isn't a bad option etiher)
