He's been "getting fit" since we fucking splashed £35 MILLION on him !

I'm concerned about it.

I don't dislike him.

I don't want to take his dinner money.

I'm wondering why a professional footballer that cost us racks of moneh still looks weighty and tired.
You'd look weighty and tired if you were drinking ten pints of ale every night. Give him a break!

I think some people are far too quick to pass judgement on Carroll. Tall players always look ungainly, it's a fact of life. He has had a couple of central defenders play exceptionally well against him in our first two matches but this will not always happen.
^^^^^^

Look we massively overpaid for him and hes an extremely limited player but he is useful against certain teams and Arsenal are one of them, he did ok today so I have no problem with his performance. But anybody who thinks he will get 20 goals this season is going to be very let down because hes just not in that class of striker.

The thing that some people are alluding to is that he seems to be the antithesis of the fluid passing game Kenny seems to be building, and they are correct, he has no pace no first touch and cant pass the ball. He thrives on a direct approach with accurate supply from wide/deep positions and his physical attributes rather than his ability will trouble most centre halves but if we want to knock the ball around on the deck and keep recycling possession then he will be a liability.

Thats wrong on so many levels.

In the long term he'll be a great player for us, just give him time and let him develop.
Kenny will get the best out of him.

He is 22 and has no first touch or positioning, the chances of that being coached into him at this stage are minimal

neil, i don't know where you've got this idea that a qualty team needs some brian deane type up front to survive away from home. i think we won 13 away games in 08/09 with one of kuyt/keane/Torres alone up top, not to mention excellent away wins last year at wolves, chelsea, and fulham playing a normal passing game.
Amen.

Not entirely sure why this thread was started today.

Kuyt was gash, Adam was ordinary and overall you could probably say the same for Henderson.

Who gives a shit though when we're winning games 2-0? Lets save this shite for when we're not winning. Oh and was Carroll that bad or was Vermelean that good? ( Yeah I know he was also in Browns pocket last weekend) but Ebs and flows, he'll come good.

I would have thought that myth was disproved the year Arsenal went an entire season unbeaten with Thierry Henry up front on his own

Are we going to see threads like this after every game?
Thought he and the team were much better today. We won and kept a clean sheet.

Lets give the lad a chance. He's only 22 aswell ffs.
That makes it worse, the early twenties is generally when people are at their fittest.

We signed him 7 months ago, he's supposed to be a professional fucking athlete ... he trains every day and he still doesn't look fit.
Bad round of golf today I see 😉

Oh yeah. 23 points ! I scored ten of them on 4th,5th and 6th. Think I just got tired then after a heavy night last night.

The course had trees all over the place - I was in them, underneath them, behind them etc etc .... so many times my second shot had to be played sideways out onto the fairway. Frustrating to say the least.

Have I said he isnt fit? I think he's pretty close to being fully fit tbh. He doesnt look unfit at all. The sharpness that comes goes hand in hand with passing and touch of the ball comes with playing more games.

In other words give him time. If you saw him playing for Newcastle last season he was fit and sharp as fuck. That will return if you just can muster up some freekin patience.

It's about having the option. When I talk it's always about having strings in your bow so you become less and less predictable, sure 35m is a lot to spend for an option but have that string in our bow now.
Also the team have to share some if the blame, If carroll is going to win everythig in the air then gamble and run beyond him to pick up the second ball. Each to their own but I thought carroll had a good game and it is no coincidence the arsenal defenders were knackered by the end of the game.

I'm loving options Spidey ... I hate the fact that you think all away games are alike and require one particular option and all home games are alike and require a completely different option because all home and away games are completely different.

It's bollocks.

and i'll return the 'amen'.

if he's not fit then i find that completely unacceptable. if he is, then it's more alarm bells.

I could make you feel better about your golf game Count. Trust me.
Ha, I wouldn't be so sure.

Reading the opinions of the fans who went to the game today differ quite a lot from some of you on here.

Hopefully he'll score a couple of goals in the next games and people will let him get on with his game.

That's your choice to think that but I on the other hand believe away from home first and foremost you need to hold possession and hold up the ball as long as possible. What you think is a good away side is your choice but Carroll would always be in my away side.

Possession has no correlation with winning, so why concentrate on it ?

Accuracy in the final third is what it's all about, so it probably isnt surprising that we won when Raul and Luis came on

I still don't get this different attitude if you're home or away. Why do people just accept it and play differently based on it? It really shouldn't be the case.

If sky still did player cam I'd like to see his performance on that. It could be he's moving a lot more off the ball than we see on screen.
