for the record, I would have no problem kenny dropping carroll for home games which is more about movement and creativity but for me away from home carroll is one of the first names on the team sheet.
I felt Carroll did fairly well today in leading the line. He was unlucky with header and would have had an assist had Kelly's shot gone in. He certainly wore them down and was a real handful.
neil, i don't know where you've got this idea that a qualty team needs some brian deane type up front to survive away from home. i think we won 13 away games in 08/09 with one of kuyt/keane/torres alone up top, not to mention excellent away wins last year at wolves, chelsea, and fulham playing a normal passing game.
Yeah, home and away stuff frustrates me. People seem to play a certain way away because they're "supposed" to. Fuck that.

I just dont see the point thats all. He's in much much better shape than last season, and will find his feet along with the other players. Today was a step in the right direction in all aspects.
He's still learning and is 4-5 years from hitting his peak. He has a lot to offer in the future. Just give him time.

He was isolated today though. Kuyt wasn't helpful to him and neither was henderson. Adam is meant to be deeper as is lucas. Downing was too busy being a fucking beast on the wings to get in and offer support to carroll. didn't quite understand the flow.
