Thinks he owns the place

According to Danish Ekstrabladet, he's going to have surgery on his back next week. Hopefully this means his backproblems will be cured, they didn't say when we could expect him fully fit again though.

Good thing we bought another centre back...

Probably not a good thing that we gave Agger a nice pay rise and long contract though

err yes it is fantastic news he's here for 5 years not 5 weeks

or maybe we should have let him go on a free?

Not to mention the fact that it appears that Rafa may well not be getting the transfer kitty he was led to expect, so if we'd let Agger go we'd have had to buy not one but two bargain basement CBs to fill out our squad. Extending his contract was a risk, but one worth taking IMO.

Well given we took on Newcastle's fitness coach they may never be fit

Agger is awesome! and im glad we gave him the contract extension. give him a break he is injured, its not like he wants to be out

He's been on an extended break since the day he signed, and wasn't he injured then?

Bad news but if sending him for the op cures the problem and allows him to play more regularly then it is the right call. This must mean Skrtel will be back on Monday, or at least isn't gonna miss too many games with this jaw injury.

It is frustrating; but the cost of replacing him might have been much higher had he not extended his contract.

I just hope the prat remembers the club sticking by him the next time his contract is up for discussion.

So we're likely to be ace in the 2014-15 season at this rate.

Two months out is the current prognosis. Not the end of the world, but frustrating and worrying, given Agger's past record of games lost to injuries.

As rebel says, Agger, Aquilani and Aurelio would all be in our first XI when fit, but none of them are exactly surefire in that regard.

Kewell used to fuck me off the way he'd make promises in interviews, shirk out of challenges and generally give the impression that he couldn't give a fuck.

So while Agger's injuries are worrying, it's well worth persevering with at his age because we all know how good he 'can' be and how much effort and quality he brings when he does return to the side.

If we sort out his back woes we're onto a winner because he's a class act.

Like Mark says, Agger, unlike Kewell, is worthy of our patience.

He's still young for a CB, and is only going to get better. I think he has the potential to be amongst the worlds best.

He's well worth waiting for. He's one of a very, very rare breed of players, and when fit (hopefully) he could be another piece in the jigsaw.

As squigs says, Agger could be one of the world's best. That calibre of player warrants patience.

A huge improvement over Ayala perhaps, but certainly not Skrtel.

I think Agger's marginally better than Skrtel at present, but there's certainly no big gap between them.

What are the details of the back operation ?

What part are they operating on exactly ?

Yep altho I do rate Agger a bit more than marginally better than Skrtel. IMO he has potential to be world class though.

Agger's a more stylish mover with the ball and more of an attacking threat (so far), but defending is still a CB's first priority and Agger's done nothing in a Liverpool shirt to suggest he's any better than Skrtel at it. If anything the opposite is true.
