Louis Tomlinson, one fifth of the boy band One Direction, found out what it was like to be on the end of a forward's challenge when the Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor clattered him to the ground during a charity match for Stiliyan Petrov.

Tomlinson, who recently signed for Doncaster Rovers in aid of a children's hospice, was forced to leave the field after the challenge – which is when his day got worse. He was then sick on the sidelines.

Agbonlahor perhaps forgot that the match was supposed to be a friendly after a strong challenge in the area but patted Tomlinson on the head afterwards. Unfortunately it was not enough to smooth things over and Tomlinson visibly struggled afterwards. Following the incident, Agbonlahor was the target of death threats on Twitter from outraged One Direction fans.

The match saw a Celtic XI face a legends team selected by Petrov, who was forced to retire after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia. The former Celtic and Aston Villa midfielder found the day emotional, particularly so when the crowd stood as one on the 19th minute to honour his shirt number.

"I said I wouldn't cry but I couldn't hold it. It was an absolute privilege," he told BT Sport. "I'm just happy to see my family every day."

Dimitar Berbatov, Gareth Barry, Henrik Larsson and John Terry played with the Fulham striker scoring a hat-trick and Larsson scoring for the Celtic XI as Petrov's legend's side won 5-3.

Baahahaha!!!!

Funniest thing I've heard in ages - bet he's shitting himself over death threats from 12 yr old girls.

Fair play to him, a young lad with shitloads of cash and young ladies throwing themselves at him and he still wants to play football for charity. But given the opportunity who wouldn't want to clatter a member of one direction on the pitch, it's a shame it wasn't the other floppy haired wee bastard.

Sheringham is a nob. Boris Johnson was hilarious, like a big blonde bowling ball.

Let that be a lesson to that Tomlinson lad that they should never go through with him playing a game for Doncaster. He'll get hit worse than that.

That clip would make the hardest of statues weep, when the sons coming running out. To YNWA as well..

It's majorly depressing that you can tell from the sound of the crowd that half of them are fans are that cunts band, makes a mockery of Petrov's occasion.

Yep. I've not heard the crowd yet, but it should have been about Petrov. Not some injury feigning (yep I'm Modo today!!) cunt from a manufactured boy band.

And wheres the outcry from the Daily Mail flock about the fans aiming death threats at Agbhonlahor? Now if it were Scousers aiming death threats at a Twitter troll then they'd be all over it! Or at the very least claiming they'd unmasked the troll from Twitter, when he was unmasked about a year ago!

It means that little floppy-haired chap managed to draw a chunk of the crowd for the event, people who wouldn't normally be near a football stadium, thereby raising funds for the charity. I'm sure Stilian is rightly delighted.

Fair point, my statement was based on the assumption that it would sell out regardless.

I must've watched this about 20 twenty times. And I still laugh each time. My 13 year old daughter isn't impressed with me at all.
