Dean Henderson is wonderfully overrated and the English press has a ridiculous obsession with his ‘determination’.

He hasn’t impressed at all in his recent run in the side and was at fault for the crucial third goal against us (and looked bizarrely out of position for Salah’s fourth).

Aces.

Yes, that fourth goal, and his head-scratching positioning for it was bizarre, wasn't it? Not sure I've ever seen a keeper simply give the striker so much of the goal like that before...

Won't we have enough cup games to keep Kelleher busy enough?

He impressed me when he played this season. No?

Why would Donnarumma come here to sit on the bench?

It looks like Kelleher is the designated no. 2 for us now.

If we're looking for an experienced 3rd choice (who mostly does training work) , surely it makes sense to go for someone like Wayne Hennessey or Tom Heaton (both free agents). Added advantage is both are home grown and help in freeing up a slot in the foreign quota. Adrian would needlessly take up one of those 17 spots.

I’m not sure Klopp would be prepared to teach Wayne about germans and WW2 or maybe it would be part of his education programme🙂

Heaton signed for Man Utd. But agree with you that someone homegrown and who can maybe double up as a coach would be ideal.

That's a shame about Heaton. I rate the guy and, the way they're going, I can see him being in with a chance of becoming first choice.

[article]Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian is close to agreeing terms on a contract extension at Anfield.

The 34-year old had interest from Real Betis in Spain while Liverpool had sounded out potential alternatives but he is now ready to commit to another season as understudy to Alisson Becker.

Adrian lost his place as Alisson's deputy when Jurgen Klopp handed 22-year-old Caoimhin Kelleher a run of games in December.

However, Adrian kept a clean sheet when he was recalled for the Premier League win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane in February.

Liverpool are prepared to let Kelleher go out on loan next season recognising that the 22-year-old needs a run of regular games to kick on.

Goalkeeper Loris Karius, on loan at Union Berlin, is wanted by Stuttgart. The 27-year-old is under contract at Liverpool until 2022.[/article]

I cannot see the logic of this.

If Kelleher is staying then Adrian is third choice, which I suppose is acceptable in theory, but he still takes up a space of a foreign player, which are limited. Seems silly to use one of those spaces for a third choice keeper.

If Kelleher is going on loan and Adrian is second choice then that is also silly, as Alisson is bound to get injured and Adrian is shit. Plus we would still need someone to be third choice (presumably another of the reserve keepers).

The newest claim, according to ESPN, is that Liverpool’s second choice goalkeeper, Adrian, will forego a contract extension in favor of leaving the club.

... It’s no surprise then that the 34-year-old Adrian may be looking for more consistent playing time elsewhere. If he does seek out another club, that will leave a gap in Liverpool first team that will need to be filled. Right now, other than Adrian, only Kelleher and 17-year-old Brazilian youngster Marcelo Pitaluga are behind Alisson in the goalkeeper position.

Technically- we still have Karius on the books for another year. - it’s not as if anyone’s gonna buy him.

Apart from the incident, he wasn't that bad. Probably ok for a game or two. Just keep him away from finals.

He was awful.

The choice of Karius or Adrian feels more like choosing between which mutated COVID variant you’d prefer a heavy load of rather than a vaccine.

After seeing Nat Phillips play so well I am open to the Karius redemption arc

Nat didn’t actually fuck up at any point that he needed to be redeemed from.

And he certainly didn’t send a drone shot promo video out from LA after being MotM for Real Madrid in a Champions League Final.

I genuinely don't understand why a contract extension for Adrian is even being considered. I mean we've known he's gash for 2 years, when a shit player has a contract (like Karius) you are stuck with them and accept thats the cost of doing business. But when their contract runs out you don't offer a new one.

Considering we don't have many home grown players why the fuck are we wasting a valuable overseas player slot on the guy we wanted rid of ages ago. Seems like it's really hard to get let go from Liverpool under Klopp.

Kehler is tipped to go out on loan next season to aid his development..

Adrian will be 2nd Choice..

Good to know we’ll have that disaster along with not replacing Gini to fuck next season up.
