Aye, 'some affordable options' that you just googled. Like you know a fuck about any of those dudes.

I know nothing about them.

But I bet they're all better than what our scouts find

Credit where it's due though, FIFA 14 is responsible for some of the list

Apparently, Ilkay Gundogan has refused a contract extension. If there's one player we should break the bank for, it'll be this guy. I can't think of why he'd come of course.

Utd have been linked with him quite a lot. I wonder what Kagawa has to say to him about joining Utd.

Would love it if we got Gundogan, that's the sort of player you need to buy to be the best in the PL. It's a long shot but if he's available we should give it a shot at least!

Attracting interest: Scouts are flocking to watch Hakan Calhanoglu
Joern Pollex - FIFA
Arsenal and Liverpool are battling for Hamburg's super young Turkish star Hakan Calhanoglu, writes Alan Nixon of the Sunday People .
Arsene Wenger and Brendan Rodgers are sending top spies to watch the teenage talent this weekend on the back of his stunning progress in the Bundesliga.
Calhanoglu scored for Hamburg last weekend and is now a regular in the side, with his attacking style also winning him his first cap at 19.
The Gunners have been big fans of players groomed in Germany and they have made inquiries about Calhanoglu's availability.
But now Liverpool have joined the hunt - with Rodgers keen to recruit next month as his squad is on the small side.
Calhanoglu could have his pick of clubs in January, with the two Premier League giants on alert in case he is for sale.
Hamburg may cash in on Calhanoglu as they are mid-table and unlikely to make the financial windfall of the Champions League.
The youngster only made his Hamburg debut at the start of the campaign but has had a full season on loan at Karlsruhe (see video) and is a regular scorer.

Oliver Kay: "I'm told #LFC's priority is to sign a very talented, powerful, box-to-box midfielder in January

... and to think only a short while ago I was posting on here that we should go all out to offer Pogba a hefty wage deal when it was clear he was likely to leave the scum on a free.

40m eh?

I read somewhere that United are after Angel Di Maria. I hope we can hijack that. He is the kind of player that can take us to the next level.

You would think Suarez was a slacker when you see Di Maria's work rate....it seems the guy has two extra lungs in his body. He is the real Dirk Kuyt with skill....I say this after seeing only one game. But i saw enough, i have never seen any winger put in that kind of effort......what is it with Argies and work-rate?

Yes we need a DM to kick Lucas out of the team more, but we can always get a competend DM on the cheap......we can't afford to miss out on players like Di Maria, especially if he is going to one of our direct rivals.

Whenever I've seen di Maria, I would class him nowhere near as energetic as Kuyt

His work rate was average at best, and he's as inconsistent as anything

Is Koke any good, ie will he improve our squad? I think we should avoid pastore purely because its too much of a risk (played in Italy)

Koke is going to be Spain's star midfielder in 1-3 years tops. my mate in Madrid was raving about him the last 3 years, though now he's on the Oliver bandwagon. We should really be setting up a youth set up there.

Lol I remember them saying he was a box to box player, could do everything, and had won brazillian player of the year. Either we ruined him or got ripped off.
I thought we were getting the new Pele.

Has anyone put to test the box-to-box Lucas theory when he won Player of the Year? There must be footage somewhere.

I was just going to say - with Juve out of UCL now, and lack of funds, if we offer them 30-40 million for Pogba, they'll accept.

I know I know, it won't happen but LET ME DREAM

i will join you in dreaming - if we sell lucas, fabio, assaidi, asaps, coady that could cover half the cost of pogba, just saying...

While we are on young midfielders I like the look of Davy Klaassen at Ajax. He has been a bit held back with injuries but he looks great this season. 20 years old. Scored a hat trick last week to make it 7 from 14 appearances. Did not look out of place against Milan yesterday. No idea how much they would want or if he would be willing to move.

Cheeky swop with Assaidi + a million or 2? Ajax wanted our flying Morrocan winger in the summer.

One of the things making me want to sign Pogba is that the Scum fans would automatically really hate him, thereby making me love him more, and thus he would become a self-perpetuating LFC love machine.

That and he'd be to us what Roy Keane was to them ... taking us to the next level.
