Roberto Mancini has decided to offload unhappy Manchester City winger Adam Johnson at the end of the season in a move that has sparked immediate interest from Sunderland.

The 24-year old, snapped up from Middlesbrough for £7million two years ago, has grown restless at a lack of starting opportunities and is ready for a fresh start.

Mancini is in no mood to stand in his way, after harbouring doubts over his attitude and willingness to accept defensive responsibility, and will listen to offers.

A £10m asking price, and wages of £50,000 a week, are likely to rule Everton out of the race, despite manager David Moyes' interest.

Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill, however, will do everything he can to put together a package that would be acceptable to City and Johnson and is the frontrunner for his signature.

Would anyone else want this lad? Still only 24 ... He scores goals, pacy and costs half a Downing. Would be our LW straight away ...

Has he really failed? He's just not played enough ... and the article says Mancini doesn't like his attitude (which makes sense as he does seem like a prat).

I really rate him. Hes dangerous. Wonder why hes failed though!

Shit attitude ... Mancini has even come out and said that a few times.

Get's dropped once and has a bitch and moan about it.

Mancini said that he acts like his all this and that, yet he's a nobody outside of the UK.

YES YES YES YES YES YES YES. It's always baffled me how he hasn't got more time at City, he's a great player.

No...no..no...no...no....we should be going by Oncey's list. As long as he doesn't put A. Johnsons there.
Get the next John Barnes - Hoilett.
Or the Uruguayan winger Gaston Rodriguez or whatever.
We tried going English and we got screwed over last summer.

We tried going English and we got screwed over last summer.

We screwed up not because the players were English, but because they weren't of the required standard. The key is not to focus on nationalities, but to focus on quality. All of this "we've tried buying English and it didn't work" nonsense is just that - nonsense. They didn't work because they weren't good enough.

Arrogant, thinks he's far better than he actually is, doesn't listen to instructions and doesn't work hard enough.

None of that really bothers me though. Take a look at 'Nationality' on his passport. If it says British - pass!

Johnson is one of those players whose reputation far outweighs what he's achieved in his career thus far. Hes almost Bridge-like.

In and ideal world this would be true but like I've said for a while there's not a lot of senior English players I rate.
Those I do rate are already playing for a rival. I don't think we're gonna unearth some forgotten gem in another premier league team.
Also, I just don't think Johnson is a player we need. We need someone who carries a goal threat as well. Having him in the line up would be like having two Downings. One is enough.

Even Quaresma has more going for him than this gimp.

And Quaresma is the definition of OVERRATED.

Someone who carries a goal threat? Are you for real? He's outscored most of our squad this year despite hardly playing.

but will mancini be there to make these decisions? . Frankly i think he's a fucking useless manager off the pitch . The other day he was basically blaming Balotelli for them not winning the league and that he might have to be sold and yesterday he's saying they've no chance of winning the league despite being 5 points down with with 5 games left and united to play. They're not favourites but have a chance so why would you say something like that ?

anyway in regards to johnson i'd be very tempted .

To take pressure off of City and make United feel comfortable

That's what I get for not looking up stats. He's scored a couple, but comparing him to what we've got is a bit simplistic. By that logic we should buy Yakubu.
Still from what I've seen he's a classic winger. I want us to have a wing forward.
Someone who drift inwards, swap places with Suarez. Someone like Iniesta.
Johnson for me is a poor man's McManaman.

We aren't going to be able to get someone of Walcott, Iniesta, Hazard or Robben's quality though. Adam Johnson is a perfect signing for us, he's clearly talented and he's a bargain. For the record though I think he drifts in rather a lot when he plays.

My main concerns with Johnson would be his attitude, and what he'd cost us. In terms of ability, he's miles better than anything we have.

Ah the good 'ol "we won't be able to do any better than someone I've seen a lot because he happens to play in the league I watch and I'm not sure who else is out there but even if there is they won't come because we don't have CL or whatever else" routine.

Then we watch on in envy as other clubs sign excellent players despite not having CL football or being any better than us.

Johnson will instantly improve us. He has loads of ability. I'd grab him for 10M. His twice the player that Downing is which doesnt say much at half the price.

Yeh, they sign players like Adam Johnson.
