I like Dries Mertens . Good touch, acceleration, and a solid and powerful shot too. Moved for only 9.5m euros (think he was in the last year of his PSV contract) to Napoli last season and did well in his first season there.

Heh, but good skill on him. And yet again another team stacked with talent flatters to deceive. Russia should've scored there and gone into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead - Kompany and Vertonghen totally fell asleep defending the cross from out wide.

Lukaku off. He's really failed to impress in this tournament so far - his first touch is poor, and he's looked disinterested this game.

It often is, he is a technically poor player, obviously has other strong attributes though.

The looking disinterested is nothing new either.

If Chelsea are stupid enough to sell Lukaku at a cut rate as a result of these less than stellar performances, and Mourinho's stubbornness, I'd be interested to see if we could try and get him. Just because he's more valuable to us scoring 10 goals+fee than to Spurs scoring 20.

If nothing else, we have to drive up the price a fair bit.

Second half of this game has been a dire affair thus far. Is the Russian right back doing a sound job or Belgium just very shit? First half, Hazard was quiet and ineffective on the Belgian left while Mertens impressed on the other flank. Second half, with Mertens and Hazard now switched around, Mertens has gone quiet while Hazard has shown up a bit more, though still not close to the level he's capable of.

Carbon copy of the last World Cup for Capello, drab football with a 1-1 opening game including a goal keeping howler and a 2nd game 0-0.

Get your money on a 1-0 Russian win next game.

Fucking Belgium scores on a counter after Russia commit men forward and lose the ball. Not sure if there should've been a foul awarded to Russia at the other end of the pitch just as Belgium started on their break. Oh well.

is that one of the poorest groups in the comp ? Russia are very average and although belgium have won 2 they don't look anything special . But who knows what can happen in knockouts , they may surprise .

Belgium seem bang average ... but that means nothing once the knockouts begin. Great goalie, great CB, mercurial talents up front.

That's it, get out of the group and you never really know, play well, get a bit of luck with the draw and during the knockout games and anyone could find themselves in the semi finals (Korea and Turkey in 2002).

3-0 to Algeria against South Korea. I wasn't expecting that scoreline. Algeria seem to be pretty quick on the break.

Algeria completely dominating and playing some good counter attacking football, whilst smothering the Korean attack

Hmmm.... looks like it's just me in here now.

*Starts looking around the place, snooping in drawers*

The second half has started. Korea have pulled one back.

Not that anyone cares.

Korea seem to have woken up this half.

Oh spoke to soon, Algeria scored again.
