Good game last night. Good work rate and nice link up play. Close to getting a goal as well.
Will be interesting to see him more in his natural position when Darwin is back.

Early impression: Its early and he'll get time to settle.

He's fuck all like Babel. Are people seriously joining the "he's shite" brigade already?

I don't know what it is, he don't lose the ball but he shoots and is aiming for corner flag can hold up, but nothing else. Just hoping we have not bought the Dutch version of Brewster or whatever his name is that we sold to Shefield United

Ryan Babbel wasn’t that bad. He scored the winner against united in a massive game and didn’t he also score in CL qatar finals. Worth his transfer alone which was what 9-11m?
Seen a lot worse at Liverpool than Ryan.

For FUCK sake.

"has all the potential to become the next Thierry Henry"

He hasn’t been sent off yet so I’m cool with him. Coming into a side where half the team play like they don’t give a shit isn’t making it easier for him.

I know sorry, hard to judge but I think we can all agree that intensity is not a part of his identity from what we have all seen thus far.
I'd agree with that somewhat, feels to me like he's still playing Dutch football.

I've already made the Dutch Downing comparison when he's out on the wing, but when he's playing as the main striker he looks like the Dutch Balotelli. I'm not meaning to pile into him, as I genuinely believe in giving young new players time with their new coaches, but honestly at the moment he's pretty dreadful, he looks casual, awkward in our system, and generally just a bit mentally slow.

Clearly it's gonna take him time to get up to speed with the way we play and that's FINE, please don't mistake this for me writing off his career with us, but for the mean time Diaz and Jota can't come back soon enough. This guy needs time from the bench, he's no where near ready to be a starter for us, he needs time with the coaches and to slowly be bedded into the team, in fact more than that it honestly looks like he needs a full preseason under his belt.

Would be sad to see but I reckon 95% here will be wanting Gakpo gone well before the seasons over.

No patience in the game anymore.

The difference is he makes about twenty of those chances a game. Gakpo just strolls about looking unsure what he's supposed to be doing.
To be fair, he really should be a bench player who we're slowing introducing to the set up over a period of time, so he can learn the pressing triggers and the runs he needs to make.

However, he's been thrown into the pool at the deep end, without a paddle, on a sinking ship.

Completely agree, it's not really his fault right now, just a condition of the sorry state the teams in.

Fair play to the lad, Klopp generally eases younger players in over a few months, embedding them in a system. He was just dropped in, and in about his second game, asked to play up front as a lone striker, a position he didn't play in Holland, never mind the PL. I've seen glimpses that I like, but I completely agree he looks like he's trying to figure out what he's meant to be doing most of the time. Because he is! And that's completely understandable.

Stop being so realistic. We demand finished product in a struggling team from the off here…

My view so far is, unlike rest if the forwards we are pining for like Jota, at least he is fit enough to stroll through on a cold night in the midlands.
