Post Match Wolves (H) - Sun Feb 16th 14:00

Our midfield ran out of steam, yet we didn’t actually take any off. We put Macca at AM meaning he had to do EVEN MORE running, and Szobs on the wing. Why not chuck Tsimi on the wing and rest Szob’s legs?

Endo was an absolute breath of fresh air, covering ground and winning a lot of battles.

Hopefully Slot sees he can support out system.

Couldn’t believe how poor both Trent & Robbo were today.

I just watched the highlights, and it's pretty annoying that Macca gave the ball away under zero pressure and five seconds later they scored. He does this a lot. I know ideally he wouldn't be so deep in the first place but it was another really pointless bit of possession to give away.

Yup the goal stemmed from him.

Having said that I don't recall him doing lots of this in other games. I suppose its just tiredness and the fact that Wolves really pressed us a lot in the 2nd half. I think they double and even tripled team us.

We have seen it before. Macca doesn't operate well when he's knackered. Jones has to come in for Macca against Villa. Macca/Endo will come on for Grav/Szobo in the 60+ mins.

We need to manage these guys or we will have little control of midfield.

Nonsense. It was dead good.

I went today. I've only just got home so haven't seen any replays but I thought 1) the first pen we got was a dive 2) the second pen we didn't get looked like a pen 3) Salah looked onside to me for that goal but it didn't even go to review, was he massively off? He looked onside and I'm usually OK at this. 4) we ended up making really hard work out of an easy game.

Ah okay, thats good to hear. It didnt sound like it at all when viewing at home but could have been something with the sound obviously. It felt quiet. But good to know that was wrong and promising going forward.

1) Was a pen
2) Was a dive. Jota should have gone for goal instead
3) Agreed. Looked onside. It was like the Doucoure one on Wednesday but not given
4) Very true

This makes me think Jones getting involved last Wednesday only served social media wankers getting likes and clicks.

Yes it showed fight and spirit and all that but what were the real consequences? He was suspended for a game he would’ve started. He put 90 additional minutes in the legs of Mac and Slobby (I’d bet they’d have shared minutes against Wolves) and contributed to an abject second half.

But yea he grabbed a blue nose cunt by the shirt.

There’s a title to be won and every little % is needed to win this.

I thought an underrated factor of our less-than-stellar performance has been a really poor game by Robbo. Other players’ performance fluctuated with the game, but he was bad throughout. In the first half there were several times Cunha or Andre found a pass in the space between him and Van Dijk; it seems that space was always available for a pass and made our press less effective. Late on, for the chance where Quansah produced a goal-saving tackle Robbo played everyone onside, inexplicably dropping miles behind our defensive line - Quansah had to make up a lot of ground to make that interception precisely because he was way ahead together with Van Dijk playing the offside line, while Robertson was standing completely alone by the penalty spot. In attack too, there were lots of promising crossing opportunities that came to nothing.

Him starting was a worry of mine going into the game. As the season has progressed it’s become more apparent he can’t play twice in 7 days never mind twice in 5.

He has been doing this a LOT this season. I took pelters at the start of the season for suggesting he looked either physically or mentally done. "He's a great pro" "he's been a loyal servant he deserves better from fans". No one is hating on him or making personal insults, it is just clear he gave his all in every. single. game. for 5 seasons and is now done. I love him as a player, he epitomised the Klopp era in work rate and the way in which he was so good at making counter attacks, switches of play or get the ball in the box at high intensity and tempo.

He can barely perform to a good level doing one game a week so - so why the hell did we give him this game to start when he ran his socks off in the Derby 3 days earlier.

He also got megged by their winger when Endo came over and took a Diddy Crumple to seal the match.

I'd meant to post about how predictable Robbo getting megged on our byline is. Seems like every other match he gets done there. Fortunately Endo was there to cover this time.
