Will we really buy a striker? (In January)

He's got a lot to his game but certainly not the full package. Rodgers talks about him being potentially the best in the world which I think looks a big stretch.

There have been about half a dozen players/managers making similar comments - world's top 5 strikers within a few years etc (that was Kompany).

I'd take Reus in a heartbeat and as quickly as anybody on here. Have thought he was a star for years. That said, I reckon the transfer fees will be similar between Reus and Shaqiri while the end product will not be that different. Reus is certainly the better player but I reckon the Bayern man suits our style even better. He's such a busy, hard running player with genuine quality and goals.

Competition to sign him won't be close to the international circus that Reus' s signature will be either.

I was so disappointed we didn't sign Shaqiri last Summer (he was superb at the World Cup too). He is a leader, very aggressive with and without the ball, on the pitch he is always lippy and directing his team-mates, maybe something we need more of. Being a cunt hasn't stopped half of Chelsea's current players, or United's in the past, somaybe there is a correlation there.

Reus' fee (and salary) is likely to be 3x that of Shaqiri's.

I think the timing is right to take the call on bringing Ibe back. He has had some experience playing at the top of the table. We are going no where fast this season. So no excuse notto give him a shot and see what the kid is made off. Six months will not set him back in his development by all that much as well.

It seems to me the rationale decision to make rather than going in to the transfer market at a tough time.

We will buy ourselves some time to assess our current squad and determine what type of players should be brought in for the next season....at the very least.

More than likely we are tied into a season-long loan though. Anyone know for sure ?

This. And it's not like he hasn't been mentioned, he's mentioned frequently on here, but it's the price that would be a problem and the fact that if he was available, he'd have his pick of clubs to choose from - Chelsea being mentioned quite regularly as interested. So it's not clear cut that we could get him, not that it will stop people from banging on like he's already there for the taking.

I want Kramaric now.

I suppose Bony would be alright as well. Not sure why we would pay more than his buy out clause though.

It was more than the release clause that made us stay away wasnt it? Agent fees whatnot?
He's said he's signing a new contract so I'm guessing that release clause will change regardless.

I do, however, very much like the swagger. He's got a conference about him - arrogance even - which I reckon is imperative in a striker but he's got a work ethic as well.

He's got the full package in terms of potential for me. Easy to forget he's 19 years old but has already shown Lukaku to the bench in a World cup.
He's got skill, can finish and is very pacey combined with a great work ethic and a good attitude. He'll be a star and potentially World Class.

Needs to add more goals to his game but he's been playing out wide for Lille in a few games which I dont understand.

Can see us selling Borini and Lucas and signing Cabaye on loan to buy and hopefully a Reus/Shaqiri type player.

Cant see us going for a goalkeeper in January. I dont think any of the top targets will be allowed to leave either.

Tsk, you're just like these shit managers. 4 months in and you've given up on what would have been a £20m investment, that you told us was going to be everything we ever wanted. I trusted you.

He is still doing better than who we did sign.

Bony is, of course, boss but I am not sure he is 10 X the bossness of Kramaric.

Of course Rodgers will sign a striker, who will also fail. Then he'll settle for playing Sterling up front with Origi/Sturridge. Once you know this is the outcome, it becomes unbearably frustrating and painful to watch Rodgers getting there in ultra-slow motion, one brain cell formation at a time.

Been saying since before the season started we should just get Origi here now. The loan was fine when a) I thought Sturridge would be fine playing by himself (still not convinced of that) and b) we could get someone like Remy in as cover. As soon as we were really struggling to find a striker he was the obvious solution - even at several million more: still less than half the price of Balotelli.

But now, with more questions than ever, and Lille in no man's land, it's an absolute no-brainer.

Ings scored twice for the under 21s. I've long thought he'd be a useful addition to the squad - certainly a better option than Borini.

Attacking options:
#1 Sturridge
#2 Get Origi back asap.
#3 Promote Sinclair (14 goals in 18 games last season, then 5 goals and 2 assists in 7 full games this season)

Cut our losses with Borini, Balotelli and Lambert before any more damage is done.

@cloggypop

What do you think of Arek Milik mate. Scoring for club and country for fun at the moment.
I assume Ajax will make his move permanent when they can on the back of the season he has had so far.

Yeah he looks good. Slotted straight in and scoring shitloads. Only going to cost them about 2 million as well.

We should be buying players like this and loaning them out to championship clubs to help them adapt.
Is is just that Ajax are still incredibly well run or does De Boer have a big say in things and is the main reason behind their success?

They are not that well run really. They are skint and nearly went under fairly recently.

Most of the other teams like Feyenoord are also skint though so nobody is really spending cash to run away with the league. They are all promoting youth and then selling them on.

I guess the training and scouting departments must be spot on. De Boer is doing great with what he has though. Keeps winning the Eredivisie.
