I hate it when we all start feeling a tad optimistic because it only leads to more heartbreak BUT IF we win tonight it could give us tremendous momentum and team spirit. Looking at our next 14 matches does not make particularly scary reading......

Wigan v Liverpool
Stoke v Liverpool
Liverpool v West Ham
Tottenham v Liverpool
Liverpool v Aston Villa
Newcastle v Liverpool
Liverpool v Fulham
Blackpool v Liverpool
Liverpool v Wolverhampton
Liverpool v Bolton
Blackburn v Liverpool
Liverpool v Everton
Wolverhampton v Liverpool
Liverpool v Stoke

Overall it's not bad but those three games back to back against Spurs, Villa and Newcastle could prove pivotal.

A win tomorrow could take us to the dizzy heights of 5th if the Geordies lose - 6th if not.

That would be ..... nearly acceptable.

Genuine question - Where did we all expect to be at this point in the season?

Me, I had us around fifth or sixth, tucked in close to 3rd or 4th, ready to move into the CL places with a with a decent pre-Christmas run. And our fixtures up until the turn of the year suggest that this is now a distinct possibilty again.

Fingers crossed.
Yup, agree with all of that.

I'm just going to enjoy the good times returning. I expect a tough game but we will bag the points. I'm confident.

A very strong line-up and I'm happy to see Roy stick with the winning team.

heh.. who provided a technically excellent pass straight out the top drawer for our first goal against Chelsea on Sunday 😉

Neil - It's still a good, technically able side and there's no need to change it. Playing Johnson might be more adventurous but we've conceded less and looked better defensively since he went out the side and it hasn't really had a baring on our goalscoring either.
who's complaining about the side? certainly not me.

Away game for Roy. I think we will lose. Dunno why mind.
Wigan have scored less goals than any other team in the league and have conceded more than any other team except Blackpool. We will win by a couple.

Wigan are probably the most unpredictable and inconsistent team in the Premiership

..... after Spurs.

True, but out of those three only Newcastle could be described as having a good season in the league so far.

Both Spurs and Villa have been as bad as us, and also our game against Spurs comes in a CL week. Lately they have struggled at the weekend after playing in Europe in midweek.

We'll have to see how we are going after our next three games though.

Spurs remind me of us in under Rafa at the moment

bossing the CL, then coming back and losing to Palace or whoever.

They've had one good result in the CL. And let's see how many finals they get to, or win.

We were pretty dire in the group stage in 2004/05 too, but yeah I would be surprised if Spurs go on to win it.

I'm hoping they stay in it a little while though, and their league form continues to suffer

Yes, because we had a world class manager, they don't. Let's see HArry try to win at Barcelona.

Spot on. Spurs has always been the most unpredictable team as far I'm concerned. Perhaps alongside the Wimbledon of old.

Yeah and Bale had brilliant games in both Milan matches but was shit against Utd, Bolton and by all accounts Sunderland

Someone post that Liverpool season cycle chart or whatever it's called.

Talk of possibility a title challenge of 4th place after a few wins. Why do we do this to ourselves?
It was only a matter of time before someone mentioned it Ken.
I may have even allowed my brain to have the odd sneaky thought about this too.
Only briefly though.

When you think they'll win they'll lose. When you think they'll lose they'll win. When you think they'll draw they'll either loose or win with a margin. When you think they'll defintely not draw they'll draw. Etc.

That has always been the case with Spurs and still is.

This doesn't apply to me, thankfully.

I was sure we would win the title while we were 2nd from bottom.

I backed us at 300/1 after we lost to the Blueshite! Obviously I don't expect to collect my £1,300* winnings as we still have an enormous amount of ground to make up but we are now down to 60/1.

When was the last time we won four consecutive games in the Premier League? Back in Spring of the 08/09 Season I take it?

No, we did it last season. That was the best we did though.

We had 5 straight league wins a few times the season before.

Cheers... one swallow and all that then...

Anyways would still be a splendid turnaround on our awful start could we string together five or maybe even six or seven straight wins.

Here's hopinhg anyways.
